It probably deserves a thread out here, too. Some of us aren't nerds and don't ever check the tech forum.

Sad times. Love him or hate him, there's no denying the impact he had on computing and technology in general. RIP.

His vision with Apple basically changed the way media is distributed, and consumed by millions upon millions of people. I hope it was as peaceful as possible.

It was pretty obvious that he wasn't long for the world when those pictures of him surfaced a while ago. Hopefully he was able to pass peacefully.
He was a controversial person, but his influence cannot be ignored, nor can his genius. When you think about what technology was like just 10 years ago and how far we've come since then, it's pretty amazing and Jobs was at the forefront of that. He helped make not only Apple's products better but other companies' as well. Hopefully others (for whatever company they work for) can pick up the torch and continue blazing trails in this field. We've seen entire industries (American cars for one) sit on their laurels once they achieved success and suffer as a result. The world needs fanatical perfectionists like Jobs who are willing to take risks to innovate.
RIP, Steve.

RIP. Probably should have this in the main forum. Jobs had an impact on more than just the tech world.

He was rarely mentioned outside of the Tech forum so I thought it would be appropriate here. Obviously his influence reaches beyond tech so if a mod has a second to move it to Off Topic it would be appreciated.

This is very sad news for the Apple community and industry. Steve Jobs made an enormous impact in the computer world. But his deteriorating health and chronic health problems made this happen only inevitably sooner.
RIP
