TEXAS! SAINT LOUIS!
Chris Carpenter, who the Cardinals would love to make three starts, may be dealing with an elbow issue right now. Which doesn't really matter, since they'll just stop using pitchers all together by game five.
Who ya got!?
My Prediction: POO-HOES in SEVEN!

I think Lou is one of the best in-game managers in the sports - Cards in 5.
Edit: ha ha I meant Tony.

Texas has too much power that it'll win them games regardless of their pitching staffs lack-lustre postseason play. Texas in 6

Playing games in the national league park mitigates that power a little bit.
Without the DH, they'll miss Murphy's bat.

Ahh good call, I forgot that change of rules for games 1,2,6 and 7. I still feel they will have enough power to win this series though

Intentional walk to Pujols and Holliday grounds into an inning ending DP. Good managing from Washington.
So far Berkman has batted in Pujols and Holliday and Napoli hit a two run homer.
C.J. Wilson looks a little off.

Exactly how many times am I going to have to hear the colour guy say "I have a few questions for Ron Washington"
Sweet Moses, shut up already, you're doing colour for Fox not managing a team in the World Series, get over yourself.

UGH, I'm frustrated.
If my team loses, they lose. I'm cool with that.
I'm totally NOT cool with horse manure umpiring.
I think I've demonstrated that I'm a level headed fan, but I'm frustrated and furious over this game.

I do think it'll be close, and a good series.
While I am totally frustrated right now, and not happy with the officiating, I have no ill will toward fans like you. I know you're a Cards fan and happy for guys like you.
Realistically, I had game 1 a write-off as I'd bet on Carpenter over Wilson just about every time. It's the rest of the St. Louis pitching staff I hope to hit, and hit hard.
Whatever the outcome, here's to a great series (although you guys won in 2006, it's only fair if we finally pick up a win )

Out of curiosity is your Issue with the Beltre Play? Or are there other concerns?
I thought Beltre was clearly out but I hate him so don't give him the benefit Of doubt at all.

The fact the ball was foul, and called fair. It hit his foot, then he was thrown out at first (all the while he was shaking off the pain in his foot thus not running to first). Made no sense. Umpires basically said "hey St. Louis since you have to get Young, Beltre, and Cruz out to end the game, we'll just give you a freebie"

That is a tough call for a home plate umpire to make - especially in this case, where the ball went off the toe of Beltre's shoe. I don't know how you make that call, unless you simply call it foul due to Beltre not running down the line. Rough pumpkins though, it was a definite missed call, but I can see how the umpire got it wrong.

Yet there was a conference and they still got it wrong, that's what cheeses me off

I guess, being not a fan of either of the teams, and just watching it for baseball the sport now - that ball could have just as easily came off the dirt as it did the tip of Beltre's shoe. It wasn't just a night and day thing, where he fouled a ball off the inside of his foot, and the path of the ball made it quite evident it hit his foot. With Beltre's plant foot facing towards Motte, grazing the very end of it - that ball could have just as easily hit the dirt and reacted the same way.
Like I said, it was a missed call, and sometimes you win and sometimes you lose them. Who knows if it would have made a difference or not in the outcome, but the wrong call was decided on unfortunately.

I'm not saying that the game turned on that one call, just that as a fan of the team it's frustrating to have it blown.
Yes you get some blown calls, and not others. However, being on the losing side doesn't make that any consolation.
To add insult to injury, it was a World Series game so the importance is incredibly high (not like a blown call in June) and in theory the crew working the game should be the absolute best in the majors. Meaning, of all the umpires in the world, they're the guys that should get that right. You literally don't get any better, and they still get it wrong. Frustrating.
On a personal level I follow two professional sports teams with vigour, the Calgary Flames & Texas Rangers. In my 22 years of sports watching (there abouts, not my age but time actually following the teams) I've seen my teams get to their respective league finals three times. So far they're 0-2 and trailing 1 game to none in a third appearance.
Frustrating.
But like I said to a friend today, what makes playoffs so great is when you win you feel like you'll never lose, and when you lose you feel like you'll never win.
Bah, I'm a rambling nervous wreck.
Go Rangers! (The Texas ones, the New York ones should lose tonight)
