Default Trick or Treat.

Hey guys,
Halloween is still new for me and I'm looking for a bit of advice. (and didn't want to crash the Halloween 2011 thread)

How do you judge if someone is too old to be dressing up and going door to door? Do you tell them to fata off and risk being egged?

What is a standard hand out?
I have a couple of boxes of candy bars and was thinking 2-3 candy per kid, maybe a little bit more for the younger ones or those who put in a good effort with their costume.

How do you handle the trick or treaters?

Where are you from that your name is Ben and you're new to Halloween, out of curiosity?

I think you're bang on - I usually give 2-3, same as you said, and more for younger kids or older kids who have really good costumes. I always give people candy, regardless of age - a few cents worth of candy to avoid an egging? I'll take that deal.

If she's over 18 and she's dressed as a prostitute or a naughty nurse or a undead zombie school girl you can give her access to that special stash of candy in the basement.

Swiftly, and with furious vengeance.

The teenagers with the lame costumes usually get the left over candy, or the crappy recycled ones from my boys' loot.

If they've made a decent effort, I'll give them the better stuff.

I openly mock the teenagers who don't even dress up. I'll still give them candy, but less than the kids.

Yeah, the ones with the lame costumes get the dental floss or mini toothpaste tubes.

The ones who show up with a name tag of a customes ie "Hello my name is god" are usually forced to dig their own grave in my backyard.

I'm an Aussie, I've never had a trick or treater on my door before moving here. The last 3 Halloweens being Fri, Sat & Sun I was not home for.
A few cents of candy to avoid an egging seems like a pretty good deal.

Normally I give a chocolate bar to each kid. This year we got some chips and some suckers in case they run out (I highly doubt they will)

I used to think there was an age that was too old, now I don't care. If teenagers really want to go door to door, they can have some candy. It's not like I'm saving the candy for something important, and since they're usually the last ones coming by they can have whatever is left.

my wife and i generally turn off the front lights by 7:45pm. part of the reason is that my wife is a teacher and she doesn't really like her students knowing where we live and the fact that we find that most of the little kids have been thru by then.

we have a hard time giving candy out to teenagers... they can go out, get a job and buy their own candy! ha!

we usually give out 2 of whatever it is we have to each kid

have you talked to your neighbours to see what kind of numbers to expect? my parents are lucky if they get 10 kids at their place. i think we had maybe 40 last year. i know at our last house we had 200+ kids.

Black Licorice "goodies" for all the teenagers, chocolate bars and chips for the young kids.

little kids get the better candies, but if a teenager actually makes the effort and shows up in costume, they get some goodies.

Where do you live man? I love those delectable pieces of stale licorice dipped in latex paint.

You are either really awesome, or a real cheap-ass.

Really, nobody else gives out full sized bars?

I just remember being a kid, and how awesome it was to get a full sized bar. For an extra few bucks it's totally worth it.
