Jane's Walk Calgary 2013
http://www.janeswalk.net/index.php/w...anada/calgary/
On Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5 there will be the annual Jane's Walk(s) in Calgary.
What is a Jane's Walk you ask?
Quote:
Jane’s Walk is a series of conversational walking tours inspired by urban thinker Jane Jacobs, that helps put people in touch with where they live and with each other. It bridges social and geographic gaps, creating a space for cities to discover themselves. Since its inception in 2007, Jane’s Walk has happened on the first weekend in May in cities across North America, and is growing internationally. In 2012, there were walks in 85 cities and 17 countries around the world, from Calgary to Canberra, Guelph to Guadalajara.

My wife and I first started attending these in 2009, they are a great way to explore different neighbourhoods in Calgary and meet and find out about your fellow citizens on the walk with you.
There are multiple walks occurring in Calgary on the Saturday and Sunday, hosted by all sorts of backgrounds (alderman, planners, transit employees, history buffs, urban enthusiasts, artists, poets, community leaders, etc).

Perhaps I will see you at one this year?

I'm not, although I have thought about it. Just not enough time to prep for one right now between work and the family.

So this walk has nothing to do with the hard working boys at janes military?
If my neighbours are willing to accept my nudity, then I am willing to take a walk with them.

Just did the Griffith Woods walk this morning. I had no idea that place even existed....great place for an in-city leisurely hike or bike ride.
