I don't know how many people here are framiliar with Gordie Sampson, but I just got in from one of his shows and must admit the guy is amazing. His song "Sorry" is one of my favourites, has been for a few years. "Sunburn" is a great song, and on his website. "Paris" was sold to Faith Hill, and possibly will appear on her next CD.

The Newfs who are reading will probably be framiliar with "King for a Day" by Crush, one of Gordie's creations, and possibly "Followed Her Around" by Jimmy Rankin, which I think was a #1 video on CMT Canada.

Another song of his is "You or Somebody Like You" which Keith Urban has performed and released as a single.

If you get the chance check out the site or download his music. Perhaps stop by HMV, Music World, or wherever you get your music and pick up his CD.

Amazing

Simply Amazing.

I definitely need a Gordie Sampson album (which means I either need to order it or ask my girlfriend in Ottawa to send one my way - I don't think any of the record stores around here have Gordie Sampson in stock!)

I saw him do a Songwriter's Circle in Ottawa a few years back (when they had a big East Coast thing. I went up for the East Coast music and ended up seeing an Ottawa/Philly playoff game while I was there). I then saw him play at a teeny-tiny club somewhere in Quebec last year when I went up to Ottawa for World Cup exhibitions.

I believe Gordie also co-wrote a few songs on Great Big Sea's last album, including "Lucky Me" (which is one of my favorite songs) and "Let It Go".

He's fantastic.
"Followed her Around"- Quite possibly my favourite Jimmy Rankin song. Rankin, Gordie Sampson, not to mention Blue Rodeo's Greg Keelor on backup vocals... how can you go wrong?
I think he also plays the bouzouki on the instrumental prelude to J. Rankin's "We'll Carry On". It's a shame it's so short!

Yep, great contributions to the GBS album. And he co-wrote George Canyon's latest.
It'd be really interesting to attend one of those Songwriter's Circles at the Juno's. I've heard some good reviews from people who have attended.

The stuff the guy has done is amazing. He's great on stage as well, times I felt like he was singing just to me. I guess in an intimate setting you can get that impression (mind you I've never seen a band connect with the crowd at this bar like Gordie did last night). There were times it was like he made eyecontact with me standing at the opposite end of the bar, simply amazing.

Also, "Mull River Shuffle" by the Rankin Family would have to take the cake as Jimmy's best song, but since he's solo you could say "Followed her Around" I mean you have to respect any East Coast/Country/Light Rock entertainer shooting a video in a strip club
