Vehicle traffic is also being totally shut down in the area, specifically 1st St SW - stay clear of the area if possible.

I can see the bitching on twitter already, or "twibitching" as it is called.

Might be 1st St that is more affected now than 7th, but I know there is a potential for a full train shut down.

Due to a gas leak on 7 Ave @ 1 St the Calgary Fire Dept has closed the area. CTrains are running to 8 St (more) #yyc #yyctransit
from the NW and to City Hall from the NE & south. Buses will run down 6 & 9 Ave. Will keep you updated as we learn more #yyc #yyctransit

Oh I love it, the first stupid tweet:
"Great. The C-train is down. Luckily people who take transit aren't important and don't have anywhere to be, right?"
Here's an idea, take a few seconds and find out WHY the train isn't running.

Yeah I follow that person's account on twitter, 95% of their tweets are nothing more than pessimistic complaints about every slight they encounter during their day. "Coffee is cold, starbucks is worse than the SS and full of fail"

Did anyone else read this tweet in Nic Cages voice?

Thanks for posting this, I looked everywhere for details about it but got nothing. Should have known by now to turn to CP first...

I just don't get it, especially tweets that are coming through now complaining about the train not running. Just check the CalgaryTransit feed or the #yyc feed, it will become glaringly obvious that this is one of the rare times where it is not transits fault.

Too bad I have no sympathies about C-Train outages anymore. There are just too many and too frequent.

It's times like these that I'm glad my only interaction with public transit is yelling at buses to get out of my way during rush hour.
I couldn't deal with knowing I was going to be an hour late home and there's nothing I can do about it.

Is the 301 running as usual? That bus takes centre street out of downtown
I'm guessing its a little delayed but is still running?

No, it exploded in a gigantic gas fueled fireball. Twitter users are complaining that it is now running behind schedule.

Great point, Calgary roads are always smooth sailing.

Good thing I decided to check CP at work this afternoon since my bus has been re-routed due to the closure (I usually catch it on 1st Street SW at 7 Ave). Bus routes 1, 6, 7, 9, 13, 18, 101 and 104 are all affected.
