Unfortunate Situation - CP Help Request, 2 cats need a new home
We had to take our son (7mo old) to the allergist doctor at our pediatrician’s referral. He had been itching and his skin looked irritated. Long story short, we were told in no uncertain terms that out 2 cats have to go. My wife and I are devastated to have to give our cats away and we were told the humane society is only holding adult cats for about 4 days before putting them down.
We have asked friends, family, co-workers and vets and are still trying to find someone to adopt them but we are not having much luck.
They are indoor cats and would not be able to become outdoor cats as they have been declawed. All shots are up to date and they would come with all their toys, 2 carriers, 2 covered litter boxes and 2 uncovered litter boxes.
I have had several people recommend The Meow Foundation to us as a no-kill cat shelter. A friend of ours adopted 2 kittens from The Meow Foundation and said she read similar stories to ours when she was looking to adopt. I am trying to get in contact with them, but I figured I would post here as well to see if anyone can help out.
If anyone has any other suggestions or knows someone who wants to adopt 2 adult cats can you please reply here or send me a PM? I will try and put some pictures up tonight.
If the Meow Foundation is unable to assist you, try Whisker Rescue based out of Red Deer. http://whiskerrescue.com/ They are 100% no kill (some residents have been there for several years and have long term but medically managable health conditions. They refuse to put down any healthy cat) foundation and take amazing care of the cats until they are adopted out. It's a top notch facility.
Good luck finding a home. I know the heartbreak in having to give away members of the family.

I think his kid is basically a newborn. I'd get rid of the cats before I'd start injecting him, too.
The doctor said that those shots help mitigate the symptoms but a newborn living in a house with cats, playing on the carpet, ect. can have some pretty serious damage done to their lungs.
Not really, the woman concerned was 'named and shamed' by the press, became a pariah in her town, had an angry mob outside her home, was arrested for animal cruelty etc etc.
He's their baby. They are cats. It's a no brainer.

Not to mention sudden respiratory distress severe enough to cause death. Cat allergies in children is nothing to play around with and I'm speaking from experience. Don't doubt your decision one ounce ever.

I'm not a big fan of cats, obviously, but that one on the bottom is a beautiful animal.
