A lot of Money.

As of right now, we have traded away our top line player. We were not excited to move Carter but we love the offer Rob put forth. Must say, he was very professional and patient with me. We retool with some pieces, lose some contract with our minor deals and acquire youth and some picks.

We had a tough choice to make. Compete or trade pieces. It has become apparent the direction we are going in. It will be another long season in Toronto.

We are still attempting to move all the other pieces in our trade block update.

Dallas has been looking for an elite goal scorer for most of the summer. Carter fills that role with his current cphl ratings. I'm hopfull that his NHL production will return to the 75 pts range with the blue jackets but time will tell.

I knew the price for Carter was going to be very high and indeed I ended up sending a very good package which I think fits really well for Toronto as they continue to retool

I like the Carter deal a lot, seems to fit the needs of both teams perfectly. Toronto got a few very good young assets to work with and Dallas got a good young player that can make a solid impact now.
