Default WEEK 10: LABOUR DAY CLASSIC - Eskimos at STAMPS

WEEK 10: Eskimos at STAMPEDERS

Second game between the two Alberta rivals this season. Stamps lost the first game 24-19 on Week 4 due to inconsistent offense and Rob Maver's foot. After that game, the two teams went the opposite ways. Stamps started winning while the Eskimos struggled.

OFFENSE:

Last week was the best offensive output for the Stamps this season. Burris threw for over 400 yards and 3 receivers(Lewis, Rambo and Forzani) caught the ball for over 100 yards. Running backs on the other hand wasn't a big factor other than blocking. Reynolds after fumbling the ball in the first quarter did not carry the ball much.

Offensive line did a great job last week against the Als. Tony Washington did some hiccups late in the game with 3 penalties but other than that, they protected Burris very well all night.

Stamps offense might have another good day on Monday as the Eskimos' defense have been struggling after their fast start. DLine Greg Peach will be back for the Eskimos but I am not sure if he can make the difference.

DEFENSE:

Stamps Defense is last in quarterback sack department with 10 but with the way the Eskies OLine plays, we might see the Stamps adding a few more sacks. Are the Stamps worried about the QB sack stat? Not really.

MLB Juwan Simpson came back in the lineup after missing the past 3 games with knee injury against the Als but he might sit out against the Eskimos on Labour Day. The team is not that worried though because they know they have Robert McCune to take the spot if need be. During the 3 games McCune played as a MLB, the Stamps won 3 games. Torrey Davis will take McCune's roster if Simpsons miss the game. Non-import LB Justin Cone will also be in the lineup to replace Marc Calixte.

DB Keon Raymond continues to make the difference on defense.

It doesn't look like we will see CB Brandon Browner and DL Tom Johnson back in Stamps' uniform this season. Tom Johnson just made the New Orleans Saints' roster while Seahawks are high on Browner. The media was picking Browner over Kennard Cox to make the Seattle Seahawks' roster.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

Kicker Rene Paredes is giving Huff and the coaching staff something to think about when Rob Maver gets off the 9-game injury list pretty soon. Paredes been good since after he struggled on his 2nd game. Stamps will miss Marc Calixte experience in special team coverage but the Stamps are high on Justin Cone.

Game will be played at McMahon Stadium Monday.

GO STAMPS GO!!!

Could be a trap game for the Stamps. They cannot overlook the Esks and I don't think they will because of the result vs the Esks earlier this year. Sounds like the Stamps are wearing all black on Monday.

Curious Q for the OP. Do you just type these set-ups out fast and hit submit? Not trying to sound like a jerk or anything as I find them full of good info and obviously you are a big fan but some of the reading is a bit odd at times. Just being curious. I do enjoy reading these posts!

As for the game, well, got my niece to high-five a complete stranger today because he was wearing a red "Eskimos Suck" shirt. Go Stamps!

So what happened with that sign that the Eskimos bought outside McMahon? Listening to the news today and they mentioned something happened, but wouldn't say what.

The board depicted an Edmonton Eskimos fan riding a Calgary Stampeder fan’s back like a horse and originally read “EE-Hawwww! See you Monday Stamps fans.”
But sometime Friday night, the sassy saying was obliterated by a far more hostile message.
“F–– Esks” was discovered scrawled across the board in Stampeder red Saturday and officials were forced to remove it.

I think it is official. Juwan Simpson will not play on labour Day Classic. FB Lyle Green been practicing as linebacker this week and he might be added as non-import LB for the game.

Just heard the EE bus was involved in an accident, according to TSN. Minor fender bender.

That wasn't an accident.

The Stamps defense drove over to the Eskies hotel. They wanted to get an early start.

The blackout is pretty much always lifted. It's been years since the Stamps have blacked out a game. But they don't officially lift it until just before gametime.

Even though it is hard for me to ever truly cheer for the Stamps I'll do my best today.

An Edm free fall is better for the Riders so it is in Sask's best interest for Cgy to run away with the West.

IMO the all black uniforms are better than the all red unis they wore in the preseason but that's about it. Actually they're probably better than their whites. Red jerseys and white pants with the red helmets is still their best...

If they can jump all over the Esks early, they will run away with this game.

Crazy loud fly-by at my house. I'm guessing it's because of the game. Or we're at war.

Get Nic involved early and often, Burris will get in the early groove the offence needs.

Would love to see Taylor break one this game. He has been close todays the day.

Did TSN stop streaming HD live on their website for these games? I can't find a link to it anywhere on the website, just some Mobile TV crap.
