Selling a used car.
There is already a thread on buying a used car, so I thought I would start one on selling one. Also looking for advice.
Basically I am in the market for an upgrade. (I have and 04 Pathfinder, I'm looking for a 4runner)
Obviously the 4runner purchase hinges on the Pathfinder sale.
The Pathfinder is in really good shape. It is an 04 with only 72000kms on it. The interior and exterior is in excellent shape. It is also in very good mechanical condition.
But the thing is I kinda made some rookie mistakes when I bought it. It has an accident history. I bought it with knowledge of a history of a couple minor claims. A couple months later I found out it has one large claim repaired and it was sold at an auction tagged as "Vehicle with frame damage"
This pissed me off, because I should have known better, but also I thought I did my due dilligence by getting a pre-purchase inspection (which it passed with flying colors)
So after that I took it to a body shop to have a guy look for evidence of damage and subsequent repairs to the frame, he couldn't find any.
So after that long-winded story, I find myself in a bit of a bind. This really is a nice truck, but with that documented history, just what am I going to get for it? I just wonder if I am really going to have to discount this thing to sell it, in which case I may be better off just keeping the silly thing.
Anybody else have experience with something like that? I have also heard that the tag of "Frame Damage" is used quite liberally at auto auctions.
