It was a good episode.
But which part couldn't you see coming? Marwhan escaping? Jack knowing he lost his girlfriend but calling her anyway? Cloe helping to keep Edgar on the job? (though I can't wait for the blow-up over the bypassed news info about the missing pilot) Michelle sleeping with her boss? (It's like cheating, once you do it, you always do it)
Or Airforce one geting shot down?
So far the only real surprise was Tony coming to Jack's rescue early on.
Now, if the Pres dies - that would be moving forward.
If he survives in the "pod" (see Escape from New York or Air Force One) I'll be pretty disapointed. Even more disapointing would be if the Pres' kid lives.
Next week will really tell the story. Either the Pres lives and we go down the same road as in year one (then what next year a bomb on a boat, and the year after a deadly disease in a resort town?) OR the Pres dies and we start rolling.
BTW- have we seen the V.P. ibefore in the series?

That was great episode.
You knew Marwan was going to escape. I didn't think they'd actually hit Air Force One in this episode.
What's with the lack of counter measures, evasive manuvers, escape pods, etc on Air Force One. I find it hard to beleive the Prez would just sit around like a sitting duck on the plane. I think the kid will be dead whilst the prez will live. You saw them standing there when the explosion happend.
And question for you guys, didn't Castle (the field agent) die? Like 4 or 5 episodes back I remembere seeing Castle die, yet he's still there, guess I'm wrong.
Did anyone else's Global feed get completely fataed during the explosion? Stupid Global....

I don't think the president made it out in time. Didn't we see him screaming when the missle hit. Bring back the best actor on TV now, President Palmer!!!
This was probably one of the best episodes EVER! this and the one where Jack kills Nina in cold blood! hehe

Started watching this year full time. Getting the first 3 seasons on DVd, since its the first show since Seinfeld that I take the time out of each week not to miss.
Frankly, last night wasn't that great. I was expecting a bigger twist (as per advertised by Fox....ya I know...but they haven't pumped this show up before).
It was clear two episodes ago the president was the target...him on a plane and the guy stealing the stealth plane gave that away for sure last episode...with Marwhan hinting at it 2 episodes ago.
Things that also bugged me yesterday...
-For the most part, F-117 Stealth planes don't have sidewinder missles..only weapons usually carried are bombs.
-One FBI agent going to check on Andersen's apartment? Cmon.
-Nothing more out of missing the police report about the missing pilot from the show before
-Jack can talk to the dude in the plane from his cell phone, but the Air Force never though of it...and, dude in the plane didn't shut off the communication line in the first place?
-A lot of loose ends that seem to be important are being ignored...not that they all have to be tied up, but some lend to the story..
I really like this show, but last night certainly has not been as thrilling or suprising or as enjoyable as earlier episodes this year.
If you watched it on Ch 132 at 7pm last night, you got to see scenes from the next week (Global has cut that out at 10:55pm to do that useless 2 minute news update 3 minutes before the news starts at 11).
Won't spoil it, but the story continues to go in all sorts of directions it seems.

Did they kill the kid (Baruz or however you spell it) last night? I know they said they did, but I don't remember seeing it. Did I miss it?

You, sir, are suffering from "Old School Sydrome" - where one has seen so much they think the new is no longer cool.
Since being Devil's Advocate is fun, my responses to your comments:
-For the most part, F-117 Stealth planes don't have sidewinder missles..only weapons usually carried are bombs.
I thought the same thing last episode when I saw the "stealth profile" - however, as they said last night - it is a stealth FIGHTER not a stealth bomber. and though fighters still carry air-surface artillery, I don't see why a pilot could not take out a huge 747 with a Maverick missile
-One FBI agent going to check on Andersen's apartment? Cmon.
One former pilot goes missing, the last 18 hours have had nuclear meltdowns - I can forsee having the manpower to send just one FBI on a missing persons report.
-Nothing more out of missing the police report about the missing pilot from the show before
The disk was left on Edgar's desk - in his pile of disks. May be forgotten. Marwan did the exchange for Jack and Behroos in order to create such a huge distraction so that the disk would liekly be lost in the shuffle.
-Jack can talk to the dude in the plane from his cell phone, but the Air Force never though of it...and, dude in the plane didn't shut off the communication line in the first place?
They are CTU - they are the smartest, quickest of the bunch - with access to all things. Air Force just scrambled other planes like they are trained to do.
-A lot of loose ends that seem to be important are being ignored...not that they all have to be tied up, but some lend to the story..
Such as? They are definitely juggling a lot - but all primary stories seem to be handled

So, you're convinced Michelle is sleeping with her boss? I'm not. B-)

So, has Marwan gotten away again with the cruical codes, past all the backup that was entering the area and airspace, with satellites trained on area, in the open desert, and is only 5 mins away currently from Jack by Jeep?
By the way Jack's talking, and CTU's worried about warheads in the next hour and highlights from next week, it seems, inexplicably, he has...
And this Vice President....how did he ever get elected into a city council, let alone to a Vice Presidental office?
Looks like they're trying to play him up as a Nixon....especially what he seems to pull next week.

I read that exact thing in Maxim a few years ago.
Had a big spread about "the football"

Like we all didn't know that other Jeep (the one Jack chased) was a decoy and Marwan had what he wanted! C'mon!!!!!! First time this season I was genuinely ticked off with the writing.

Got Oliver Klozoff

And how hard is it going to be for them to find the jeep with that helicopter? I am interested to see how Marwan is going to escape from a helicopter this time.
It is a great show but sometimes a bit of a stretch.
Why the hell isn't Jack bringing more people and a better aresenal with him when he goes to recover the football. That guy really needs an automatic weapon.

And any CTU agent who goes with Jack (hospital, McLennan Forester, apartment etc) are the 2005 version of the Star Trek guys wearing the red shirts in the original...they say few words and always take the early bullet..but are quickly forgotten.

why would he need an automatic weapon when his hand gun has unlimited bullets! he must have shot off like 80 bullets! hehe
It was pretty tense yesterday. It's a great show when innocent campers get tortured.

Not going to spoil it for those who don't watch it on the time shifted Eastern feed...but not bad this week.
One thing that bugs me, but will get into that later after the show airs here later.
And, as for the preview of next week (which those watching Global don't get to see)....he's baaack!
