Hypothetically if I were to want to fire my coach and hire someone else am I too late? (my own fault if so, obviously). If I were.to do that does the contract count against the cap?

As far as I know, if you fire your coach, it counts to the cap for this year. I don't know if that's allowed right now or not.

Yup if you fire your coach the entire remaining amount of their contract would count against your cap. You can do it now if you want.

Well you could sign someone not on either list, but they aren't working in the nhl as head coaches this year

Winning contracts:
Buffalo
Dan Bylsma 2 @ 401K
LA
Ron Wilson 2 @ 150K
Colorado
Paul Maclean 3 @ 150K
Philly
Peter Deboer 1 @ 110K
Florida
Kevin Dineen 3 @ 100K
I think that just leaves one team (Detroit) without a coach. They can email us who they want to hire and for how long.

hmm obviously we are big spenders here. bit of a last minute decision as we also looked at bringing back Ron Wilson or signing Scott Arniel for much lower dollar figures, but at the last minute decided to make a bid on a guy who has won a Stanley Cup in the NHL and who we find to be an interesting character. whether he has any impact on our team, unsure but as we go into a mini-rebuild this year, maybe he is a better fit than Ron Wilson the only coach we've ever had a guy who did bring us the CPHL championship so we wish him (sort of) all the best in LA

Due to an oversight, the Kings were operating without a coach in the sim last season until about 30-35 games in. Once Grant and I realized I didn't actually have a coach we added Bylsma to the sim file. It may have been some a huge coincidence, but the team started losing a ton of games after Bylsma was added and the Kings never really did recover.
You might be better off without a coach :P
Good luck with Bylsma and I'll see if Wilson can light a fire under this team's a$$.

Funny thing is when I hired Lindy Ruff once he was fired from the penguins I offered him .850M. And I still think I signed him at a bargain
