On D-Day, June 6, 1944, Winters and his troops from Easy Company, 506th regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, parachuted behind enemy lines to take on a German artillery nest on Utah Beach. Winters made himself a promise then that if he lived through the war, all he wanted was peace and quiet.
His company fought through the Battle of the Bulge, the liberation of a death camp at Dachau and to Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest at Berchtesgaden.

he came up with battle tactics on the fly that to this day are still being taught as textbook military strategies, and yet he wasn't a career military man. a true leader born out of necessity instead of desire, even the most interesting man in the world can't hold a candle to his greatness
RIP Major Winters

This is one of the greatest human beings that has ever lived. Call it hyperbole if you want to, but he accomplished more in the span of a couple years during WW2 than any 100 of us will accomplish during our entire lives. Dispute it if you can...I suspect you cannot.
My heartfelt salute goes out to Dick (RIP) and his extended family.
You'll have to excuse my admiration of this guy (If you disagree), I have spent almost 22 years in the service of my country and I have a hard time looking at Winters' body of work and not getting choked up.
Sorry...

No need to apologize. Winters was a hero in every sense of the word.
The timing is a bit eerie for me. Not even a week ago I dusted off Band of Brothers and gave it another watch. It seems to get better with each viewing.
