Post Starbucks CEO: No more political donations

Seems Howard Schultz is angered over the shenanigans going on in DC, and is calling on all company CEOs to cut off political donations to any and all campaigns until politicians figure out the economy.

Will it work? Well, probably not -- just like politicians, everyday people (even CEOs) are often still ideologically influenced, and will probably still donate massive amounts of money to ridiculously bloated campaigns, but it's worth a try.

He should use that saved money to build a new stadium for an NHL team in Seattle.

As much as I wish Big Business wasn't so entrenched in politics I just can't see too many CEOs following his lead. In the United States lobbyists outnumber politicians on Capitol hill by 4 to 1.

Reminds me... if you still haven't seen the documentary Inside Job, do it. Great story about how the US got to where they are today. CEO comments like these play right into it (for the better).

I agree overall, except it's encouraging to see this in the wake of Buffet saying the rich need to be taxed more.

If there's one model that America follows, it's that businesses dictate the direction of the country. There seems to be a shift in the way big businesses are behaving and thinking when it comes to government.

Obama's comment about political gridlock seems to be working, if only a little so far.
