This is a common occurance, I have seen poop eaten, tossed, and used for art. 'Cup-o-pee' is also a weapon of choice. When we opened the female unit, we were warned of the used-tampon projectile. It is all in a days work.
As for the spitting problem, it tends to disappear when you inform them it will return alot faster then it went out, and their teeth might go with it..... they tend to change their mind. We had to drill holes in the trash cans, to stop the storage of fluids.
