No real key departures from the Roughnecks this year. Bruce Codd is a great defender who stayed out East this year - but the Riggers should get more games out of Manning this year - who only played in two last year because of med-school.

So this team is arguably just as good as last year's regular season champion squad.

The biggest issue could be that all the teams around them improved - largely on the basis of Boston folding. Edmonton is a strange case - they traded Brodie Merril (who I think is one of the most complete players in the NLL) for Iannucci - but can't get him to sign a contract yet. That's a huge factor in their season - they paid a big price to get a true sniper but don't have him in the fold yet. Hopefully we get a better NLL BOA this year.

The league has made some really smart rule changes this year - that should make the game even faster and generate more of the back and forth type of low that fans love. Possession will still be the name of the game but I think we'll see more stretches where teams are running the floor and exchanging grade a scoring opportunities.

Only one NLL team won't make the post-season so the regular season is really just a tune-up.

Looking forward to Riggers season, will make it to couple of games. The offence will be deadly with the addition of Shawn Evans but it looks like Kaleb Toth will miss few games to start the season.

Last years team was really young and a year of experience should really help. Also the Riggers first 3 picks from last draft made the team so getting even stronger.

No doubt the offence and defence will still be superb, the only question is in net with Poulin, he was inconsistent last year so that will have to change, but there are goalies who will be pushing him for playing time.

Sucks there aren't any afternoon games this year, I was hoping to bring my son to a game.

I might make it to the game against Minnesota on March 3rd. Our flight from Hawaii returns on the 2nd, and we'll probably want to stay in Calgary for a day or two after that.

Default Roughnecks Debut New Jerseys

Quote:
ROUGHNECKS UNVEIL 2012 JERSEYS
The Calgary Roughnecks today unveiled their new home and away jerseys for the 2012 NLL season.

Calgary's new home (white) and away (red) uniforms feature a streamlined look with red sublimation on the sides of the home jerseys and shorts and black sublimation on the road set. The Roughnecks prevalent brand is continued in the new shoulder crest featuring an oil derrick with a prominent ‘R'.

The uniforms produced by Reebok feature several improvements to the jerseys, including using a new, lightweight material and slimmer design to enhance player movement.

"Reebok has revolutionized the NLL jerseys by introducing a lacrosse specific design and developing new materials to maximize performance", said Steve Robaire, Head of Reebok Lacrosse. "The new NLL jersey has an ergonomic shape design to enhance range of motion and reduce drag. The material used for the NLL jersey is lightweight while offering four-way stretch as well as advances in abrasion resistance and wicking properties."

The Roughnecks new away uniforms make their debut at the Air Canada Centre on Sunday, January 8 against the Toronto Rock, the defending 2011 NLL Champions. The season opener will be broadcast live on TSN starting at 4:00 p.m. MT.

Single game tickets for the 2nd bowl went up almost 50% this year. That's not good...

I wish more NHL/NBA owners would support/get NLL teams. It would help the league become more legit.

I was flicking channels and saw the game. 4 or I think it was 5-0 later I changed channels and never changed back. I take full credit for the created Kharma and the resulting win.

I thought the impact of the rule changes were interesting. The game was quicker and there were far more chances generated on the rush. Short-handed teams are going to have to watch giving up breakaways - both teams were burned by quick long passes and with the longer line changes now - they are easy to give up.

These changes should favor teams with "young legs" because the game is even quicker. That's a good thing for the Roughnecks.

I thought Dobbie was excellent - for a guy that isn't that big no one drives the net harder in the NLL than Dobbie. The guy isn't a afraid to get obliterated if it means scoring a goal.

Dobbie is a great goal scorer, my only complaint is some of his embellishments.

Does anyone know of a good app or mobile site that has updated NLL scores?

I'm only a casul NLL fan- I try to make it to a game per year at least, but I don't love it enough to attend more than that. Before giving me crap- I was unemployed last winter, and this winter I work on the rigs so am not home very often during the season

What are the new rule changes?

Cool new jersey design, but I am sad that tickets are more expensive. I guess the Flames have got to make their investment back somehow...
