Saskatoon band trying to make the Cover of the Rolling Stone
Just like Dr. Hook before them, The Sheepdogs out of Saskatoon, SK are dreaming of making the Cover of the Rolling Stone.
They are part of a contest to do just that. It is currently in round three of four. I have seen them live a few times and can say they are honestly a very dedicated and grateful group of guys that just love to play music.

I confuse, love the sound.... but you aren't fooling anyone with the contrived, forced 70's look. The music will sound just as good, if you aren't trying to fit into some sub-genre of hipsterism.
Dinosaur music on the cover a magazine that is named after a Dinosaur band seems appropriate to me too
Actually, both the dinosaur band and magazine were named after a song. That song is from a genre of music so fossilized that the author of said song once wrote that the genre had a baby and they called it rock 'n roll.
I actually quite like them. Heard them a few times from various sources but hadnt delved into their material untill now. While its not exactly a contemporary style the song writing is excellent and their playing skill is more than proficient.
Would be cool if a no name band from Saskatoon made the cover.

I don't mind their sound, but the singer is holding them back. He's awful.
The chick seems to be running away with this, and I actually liked the one song of hers I listened to. Too bad she's going to get famous via a BS marketing gimmick like this.
Nothing wrong with 70's music...puts all that new rock to shame!
Nothing wrong with 70s music at all. I just don't like the whole period concept thing. To me, being a concept band is only slightly better than being a tribute band.
It's not that I don't like 70 music though. I'd feel the same way if they wore ducktails and played b-bop or teased their hair, wore spandex and played glamrock. It's just a little too gimmicky for my liking.

Thanks for grasping the concept and meaning behind this thread!
