Speculation is that his health has taken a turn and he's about to resign.

Never have liked the guy, but I can't deny how much of an impact he's had on federal politics over the last 8 years. Will be interesting to see if the NDP can maintain their momentum with a new leader.

I always liked this guy as a politician, it's just too bad the party and platform is so idiotic. I guess one could argue that depends a lot on the leader, on the other hand, I doubt the party would elect a leader that wanted to change, or allow a leader to change it's platform very dramatically.

I was never a fan of his polices, but seemed like a nice guy overall. It's a tragedy to see anyone be crippled by health issues, wish him and his family the best.

Layton looks totally emaciated, thin, skeletal even. Looks very ill.

With the way he looks right now, and considering he plans to go into treatment, anyone else think that him returning by September is a little optimistic?
