Default Lost...Will there ever be another?

Not sure what made me do so, but I was just searching out some endings and thoughts about the show Lost and I have to wonder, will we ever see another prime time show like it? I sure miss Lost.

Those of us who watched the entire series share something special I think. I really don't think we will ever see another show quite like it. I sure wish we had more shows like this. Meanwhile, NCIS, Dancing with the Stars and American idol are tops with the American public.

Shows better than Lost

The Wire, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, The Shield, Dexter, Six Feet Under, Deadwood

If you wanna turn this into a cable vs network show discussion, then that's different. I gave Lost a good go, but it didn't work for me. I have a hard time getting into a network show. Maybe I'm a cable snob, I don't know, but the quality on network is brutal.

I know the shows I listed are all totally different shows and hard to compare, but you asked will there ever be a show better than Lost. I give you those 8 options as all better shows.

The Wire especially, there will never be another show better.

IMO of course.

I didn't ask if there will be better shows...I asked if there will be another Lost. If it is good or not is subject to opinion. But you cannot compare those shows to Lost. Not the same "type" of show...

I was so bitter about how they ended it that they pretty much ruined the series for me.

I edited my post a little bit to try and get my point across better. I do agree, it's impossible to compare those shows to Lost.

Well, I understand if you didn't like how it ended, but it was open to interpretation obviously.

I personally love how it ended and hated to see it go. I just really wonder if we will have another "lost" in our time. It was very unique for a prime time show.

Agree about all these shows, except I haven't watched The Shield or Six Feet Under.

I don't get why Lost is so special? I thought it was a cool concept, and I was addicted to the show (watched every season), but I really didn't particularly enjoy it. It was just an endless series of cliffhangers to me.

Almost every show tries to be lost nowdays, some executed well, and some extremely poorly.

I'd rather have another Josh Wheden series like Buffy or Angel.

Or a fairly smart Sci-Fi series like TSCC where they just don't drop key ideas two episodes after the introduce them.

I was told by a friend that Lost was something special for years. My gut told me that it was a piece of crap and that i shouldn't bother. Finally i caved in and couldn't believe i had overlooked this piece of art. Not long after i started on season 3 and began to realize that i should have listened to my gut. As great as season 1 and season 2 were, the absolute **** the put out after that makes watching lost a complete waste of time.

this is probably the most useful post ever posted on ANY forum on the entire internet.

the problem is, unless you watched the entire thing, you thought it was stupid. Of course lost had its dull moments (time travel was...meh...) but it had tons of story lines, left room for so much discussion and was completely thought provoking. I miss lost too, however i think it ran its course and shouldnt be brought back..if it was, it would be terrible.

I‘ve never seen it either. Though I might try out an episode to see what it's like now.

Buffy is really beginning to look like Whedons one hit, with Angel being a spin-off hit of poorer quality.

He's struck out with Firefly and Dollhouse already (neither of which were anything to be missed IMO). He MIGHT get another chance since neither was a complete flop and he still seems to have a notable amount of devoted fans, but if he does, it will propably be his one last go at it.

Watched Firefly again this week. Probably one of the top 20 if not ten best in my enjoyment.

Do you know why it failed? I will give you a hint, and it is the reason why Joss will not work with TV again (After Dollhouse).

Fox destroyed it. The show didn't suck. It was layered with drama and comedy. Basically it was some of the best entertainment I have watch, but fox NEVER gave it an honest run. It was discontinued because in it's 13 episode run (the last episode #14 did not air) it rarely was shown on the same day. In a world where ratings rule this is a killer. Now, in this thread, who wishes Firefly was back over lost?

With Dollhouse it was the same thing but even more. Joss's idea of dollhouse was not so tame and fluffy, but the network liked the concept. They liked it so much that they changed it to the crap that you saw. He vowed never to work with fox cable again and if he has a show it will be on an internet channel.

Joss's writing is unique, well thought out and highly entertaining. Anyone see Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog? Ha ha ha... Sorry, hehehehe. It was good stuff. Anyway, if he sucks why is he doing the billion dollar picture "the Avengers" ($ amount my prediction world wide)? Oh ya, Joss is doing it.

Oh and those into good shows that never made it?

Another favorite. Network show for the non-network people.

I recently started watching Lost, I'm about 4 episodes in to Season 4 right now. I'm digging it so far.
