Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt.2 Read spoiler update in first post
UPDATE: Please put spoiler tags or write in white text for those who haven't seen the movie
I didn't see a thread about this. I grew up watching these movies and reading the books and i'm pretty sad that this is it. No more after this movie unless J.K. Rowling is working on another series. The books where all great and the movies were really good as well. I just know this last one is going to live up to its potential. If not then i will still enjoy ever second of it. Looking forward to seeing it tomorrow:

Deathly Hallows part 2 is the only Harry Potter movie I didn't like. It was boring, poorly paced, and they spent half the movies just teleporting (or whatever) to wherever they needed to go. It felt like easy story telling.
I hope that part 2 redeems it, I am excited for part 2.

Well, I disagree completely. To me, it followed the book much better than any other movie so far. And the books are much better than the movies in the first place. I think it was by far the best movie.

I agree, part one was so frickin' slow! I've only seen one of the movies at the theater, and will wait for this one to come out on disc, but I can't say I'm really looking forward to part two after the last one. I still think it was a greed-fueled move to split the last book into two movies.
As for the Harry Potter franchise, I've read the books, let myself get caught up in the whole phenomenon--it's kind of like the Star Wars for the next generation, and it will be somewhat sad to see it all end.
On a whim, we headed down to McNally Robinson (RIP) during the 7th book's launch. It was quite amazing and I wouldn't even call myself a die hard Harry Potter fan in the least.
That was 100% the motive. It wasn't like the last book was that long.
When they announced it, the BS reasoning they gave was that they wanted to give the fans 'more.' More what, camping scenes?
The fourth book was like twelve thousand pages long. Part of the reason I preferred that movie so much more than the book was because someone actually edited the story, cut all the fat from it.

Which is too bad because book 7 was a huge failure by Rowling. She lost that inspiration and the work suffered.
3 and 4 are amazing. 5 is a bit whiny but good. 6 had a lame ending that she cut waaaaay short but again was still good.
7 was worse than books 1 and 2 which were both pretty nonsensical but captivating.

Perhaps so. I remember when I read the third book for the first time it was head and shoulders above the others.
I guess I'm the kind of person that enjoys the little things in the books, so I like the longer books. I realize I'm in the vast minority here, but if they made a movie of the 5th book with every little thing in it, and made it 8 hours long... I'd love it.
But at that point I imagine I should just read the book again.
I'll be checking out a matinee tomorrow. It's not the greatest series ever, and I don't think I have watched every movie, but there is far worse crap out there. At least the child actors aren't complete scumbags like many American "teen" or younger icons. Also Emma Watson is kind of a hottie.
The Batman trailer alone should be well worth the $7.50 I'll be paying.
Pottter is also at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, and I fully expect it to get a Best Picture nod.
