Default Amazon Kindle/Chapters Kobo App's

Anyone know the reason behind both, within days of each other, dropping the ability to shot from within their respective iOS apps?

Noticed the Kobo one yesterday, and went to update Angry Birds today and noticed The Kindle App update will "remove Kindle Store button" from the app.

What's the deal here, why would they do this?

Ugh, eff Apple.. honestly.

I haven't updated either, but if I did and still made purchases on their respective websites would they still download to my iPad?

Yep. All they did was remove the shortcut to launch the browser for the kindle store. Just bookmark it and you're fine.

While more of an inconvenience than anything (for the Kindle App at least), I can't help but shake my head at Apple for their business practices, yet again.

I enjoy my iPad 2 that I won, but when it comes time to upgrade, I'm going to express my displeasure with my wallet and will not repurchase, unless Apple changes their business practices.

I was wondering when this was coming down. Apple announced that if a company wants to sell things through their app they'd have to give up the 30% months ago. I was wondering how the book apps were managing to get away with it.

It does suck to make things a little bit more complicated, but as long as I can still buy from the site and send to the iPad I don't really care. This is the game you play when you get in bed with Apple. Some people find it inexcusable while some adjust.

That won't happen. Apple is essentially building a Scrooge McDuck pool filled with cash-on-hand by doing what they're doing. I see no reason why they would ever change from this model. The people that don't agree with how they handle things like this can go to Android. The people who don't care are very numerous and also Apple's bread and butter.

I love my iPad, don't see myself upgrading my tablet until 2-3 years from now, I think these things have longer lives then cell phones, but less then a good PC. When I do look at an upgrade I hope Android will have something that really challenges Apple in this platform, because I am sick of the Apple BS.

The closet right now is the Asus Transformer, but I still think the iPad beats it by a fair margin.

This is what I'm worried about; that Apple will recognize that they've just created a minor inconvenience, and then remove apps from the app store/force companies to remove internet connectivity from apps who sell items outside the app store (such as the Kindle).

Apple just drives me crazy; they make quality devices, but the restrictions the put on their products, and their business practices are driving me insane. I just bought a Samsung Galaxy S2, and it seems like there are no restrictions on what I can do on the device.
