Interview with Boomer and Rhett.

Really great commentary on his career, and how he's handling retirement thus far.

Apparently he's playing beer league in Calgary! Wonder with what league. haha

Heritage "A" is a beer league to him.

Imagine trying to play against a recently retired pro like him? Not fun.

No kidding, especially a brick shthouse like Reggie? Heck no.

I've played against a couple middling Euro league guys when they come back for the summer, and I feel like a lost puppy chasing a ball I'll never get.

We used to have recently graduated players from the Tigers come and play with us and THAT would get absurd at times. Playing against Reggie would be the ultimate frustration.

played on the wing of Kris Kolanos two years ago in a pick up game ... he looked like Mario Lemieux. That was the season after he was up a few times and a true tweener between the AHL and NHL. Really puts in perspective how good these guys are. Would be interesting to play shinny with McGrattan and have him skate circles around you.

I was just going to say something like this - even the biggest goons in hockey had decent minor league stats and can dangle the average joe. And Reg was a pretty good offensive guy in junior IIRC.

He's playing for Redneck in the Winsport Oil League. He got 2 assists and got called for Boarding last night.

Yeah, I'd be dumping it into the corner from centre ice and heading for a change ... every time.

wasn't there a story about Tim Hunter going to a beer league game to shut up some arm chair critics when he played for us?

The guy was probably wearing 83. Old habits are hard to kick.

I played ball hockey on a line with Eberle and his brother when they subbed for us in Jordans draft year.

I contributed absolutely nothing.

It was crazy. He wasn't even trying and he could do whatever he wanted. The next season I didn't play but he played 9 games with the team and scored 40-something points.

I have to admit, some of the shine Regehr had due to his tenure here dulled after his blatant hackjob on Hudler in the clinching game.

Yes, it was his job, but still...fark it, Reggie.

I had some buddies that played on an NCHL team with Theo Fleury back in 2006. They would win every game like 15-0 and Theo would put up an easy 6-8 points in 15 minutes of ice time.

I was livid about that, and the thing was that you could tell that hurt Hudler, he wasnt right until late in that Vancouver series, that hack could have cost us a lot.

That being said, Regehr was my favourite player while he was here.

Would love to grab a beer with the guy, just to see what he says about those teams from 07-12, Mike Keenan, and the locker room off-the-record.

I used to play with Lanny and Theo a bunch as a kid. Lanny was the nicest guy because he was like a pro wrestler trying to make his opposition look good. Theo on the other hand wouldn't even tie up his skates and he'd skate circles around everyone. We did a 23 on 1, with dads included, and we could hardly get the puck from him. He was so insanely fast that at half speed we didn't stand a chance. He deked my dad so bad he fell on his ass.
