Default Laptop batteries from China

I need a new battery for my laptop.
New ones online usually cost right around $90 and the shipping is crazy.
On Ebay, I have found numerous batteries, many with 36 month warranty, for 1/3 that price and cheap or free shipping.

Has anyone ever ordered an Asian replacement?
Do they work? Any drawbacks to ordering one?

The "real" ones are all made in China anyway.

Can you track down one for your particular model?

I've had good luck googling "laptop batteries" canada. Plenty of Canadian companies selling batteries for a good price and reasonable shipping.

You'll also get a warranty, something you can't count on with eBay.

I'd be careful. I ordered two batteries months ago. One failed within a month and the other within six months.

I ordered one for my Netbook. 2 years and still going strong.

Yes, it is buyer beware. Try to find a company that seems reputable. An eBay seller with great feedback and has been around for a while; for example.

Yeah, I ordered a Chinese made one for a netbook that gave my netbook about 8 hours of life vs the 2 hours the crappy one that came with it did.
