I have found Osoyoos to be kinda dirty. We typically stay in Penticton and day trip to Osoyoos instead.
They have a mini theme park there that our kids enjoyed, but it was pretty small.
I think its called Rattlesnake Canyon.

I'm not much help as far as family fun but since you mentioned wine, I can give you pointers on where to go winerywise (I just got back from a trip in which I visited over 17 wineries in the area.)
Basically most wineries on Black Sage Road (in between Oliver and Osoyoos paralell to Hwy 97) are gold as this has got to be the best place to grow some of the bold red wine grapes. My favorites include Burrowing Owl, and Desert Hills. Actually in Osoyoos N'Mip winery is usually a good place to visit and there's a Desert interpretive center there as well.

I think there is better camping around Oliver (20 mins north). Great wineries and golf all the way up the Valley.

Not much to see at the US border town (I forget the name of it).

As stated by others, Penticton is the place to head to.
We are headed out to Summerland next week for our yearly vacation out there and while we do make the trip down to Osoyoos for an afternoon, we spend 90% of our vacation in Penticton.
Black Sage Road was already mentioned but is a must for wine tasting. Desert Hills and Silver Sage are two of my favs along there - also make sure you make the trek up to Naramata and take in some of the 500 wineries along there as well.

I went to Osoyoos with my family in 2007 and thought it was a bit of a hole. It didn't seem to have much personality. We went again in 2010 for two days (kind of against my will) and had an amazing time. I'm going to be there for four days this summer as two days wasn't enough last year.
So yeah, it might suck and it might be fun. Good luck!

yep we holiday frequently there and quite like, the fact there is little to do (in the urban sense) is part of the appeal
guaranteed heat, water, cold beer, beach. our family loves it!
Sylvanfan used to live there I think? he might have some info

The lawyer that hired me for my first real lawyer job, became mayor of Osoyoos. He has a nice place over-looking the lake.

We went last year for a week. Loved the beaches and being on the water. I found it very clean. Weird that some posters said it was dirty. It is more of a low key vacation which is what we were in the mood for.
Make sure you drive to the top of the hill nearby. It has an amazing view of the entire place.

My brother is a fairly new RCMP officer posted to the Oliver/Osoyoos detachment and he loves it out there. I've been out four or 5 times to visit him and have always been able to find things to do.
If you golf they have two really nice courses.

Osoyoos, while lacking in personality, is a small, relaxed, fairly simple little town. If you're looking to have some family fun on the beach, it's a great place for that.
You might try a road trip up through Keremeos to do some fruit-picking before you come home (I would imagine kids might find that to be fun). And Penticton probably allows more in the way of watersports than Osoyoos does.
As far as wineries go, Silver Sage and Burrowing Owl are probably the two "do not miss" wineries in the immediate area. Burrowing Owl is just beautifully scenic (although their wine is generally overpriced) and Silver Sage has some of the best adventures in wine tasting anywhere in the Okanagan. Other top wineries from Penticton down include: La Frenz (likely the best winery for white wines in the Okanagan), Hillside Estates (ordinary wine, but lots to try and has a decent restaurant), Elephant Island (one of two fruit wineries in the Okanagan that I'm aware of), Dirty Laundry (an actual steam engine goes through its vineyard, and you can buy tickets to ride it with your kids - I imagine a 5 year old and 18 month old would love this) and nearby Thornhaven (one of the best spots at which to bring a picnic for the patio aft,er your train ride) and Sleeping Giant (actually a fruit winery started by Summerland Sweets - a great place to get ice cream before or after your train ride or picnic), Wild Goose (an up-and-comer with pretty strong wines). I also suggest (for their wine) Hester Creek, Marichel, and Blue Mountain (by appointment only).
Actually, reading through that, it seems you could easily fill a day on a trip up the West side to Summerland, leaving the whole of Naramata for another day.
