Ottawa in final stages of deal to send Canadian beef back to South Korea
Quote:
OTTAWA - Federal officials are in the final stages of a deal to resume Canadian beef exports to South Korea.
Seoul was the last major Asian government still banning Canadian beef imports after the industry was ravaged by a bout of mad-cow disease nearly a decade ago.
The government says under the science-based agreement Korea will import Canadian beef less than 30 months of age, and the market could be worth $30 million by 2015.
Sure it is nice to see but it never should have been there in the first place. The South Korean ban against the beef (especially US and Canada) were nothing more than a collaboration of protectionist and pinko opportunism.
Lucky Koreans? That could be good or bad... Depends on if we have different "export grade" meat we ship over there? I remember the American beef I had in Hong Kong just tasted awful/rubbery and the stuff I had actually in the states wasn't too bad.
