"Peter Falk is Dead" is so blunt it makes Sarah Jessica Parker's face look delicate.
It's less an announcement and more a bare bones factual analysis.
Seriously, if it were you passing on news of someone's death, would you say "My friend passed away / My friend died from ___ ", or would pass on the news by saying "My friend is dead."
