Victoria officially names new WHL team Royals

Well, everyone in town knew it was going to be Royals so not a real shocker there. My GF works at a paint store in town and the guy who does all the painting for the Memorial Centre came in to buy Royal Blue a few weeks back.

As far as the logo is concerned, I really like it. It's certainly a step up from the angry King Salmon from before. The font and the style of the lion give it a Royal feel and less of a cartoony mascot feel ie: the Rockets or Cougars.
The Jersey is what I've come to expect from the Reebok era sweaters. Many of the minor league teams just take a jersey template from an NHL team and that's exactly what we have here. The Royals logo is slapped onto the Lightning's 'BOLTS' 3rd jersey. I think the Royals jersey looks better than the Bolts one IMO.

Overall I'd say we did alright with the logo and jersey, at least we missed another train wreck like the Salmon (Can't lie though, I do have a Salmon Kings jersey in my collection).

Now that you mention it, yeah I can see the similarities. Still, better than what we had.

Yeah, the Salmon Kings logo was awful.

A step up from Salmon Kings, but yeah, I'm not a fan of the logo. The jersey design is about as good as one could hope for on an RBK Edge template, however.

I'm so stoked for WHL hockey this fall. I was never really into the Hitmen so it's easy for me to throw my support behind the Royals. I actually like the logo and jersey.

The Lion of course is part of the Royal Coat of Arms in the UK, so the Royal Bank copied it, as this crest also tries to emulate.

Like the logo, although the maple leaf "tatoo" placement looks kind of odd...maybe add it inside the "O" or something. Plus, the jersey template itself is uninspiringly straight off the rack (as I guess many CHL team are) from the Reebok warehouse that probably any beer league team could order up today.
