Default Highlighting bumps

Have you ever seen an old thread bumped and then fumbled through the pages to see what post bumped it or what got the discussion restarted? I was wondering if there was some way to mark this.

The new goggles also do nothing.

I don't think there is, you basically have to look at the dates.

Is there a way to auto-lock any threads that have been inactive for a period of time (one week, two weeks, a month)?

That way, if an existing thread needed to be resurrected because of a new development to the story (such as the start of a murder trial going into the thread about the murder), a mod would have to unlock it and could change the title to reflect that it's an old thread. Otherwise, a new thread would need to be started rather than bumping one that's 2 years old.

Also, if the OP's desire is to just to jump to the bumping post, at the top of every page in a thread is a link that says "View First Unread", which will (most of the time) then jump your browser to the post in question.

There are mods for that I've seen, something to look into. Though it doesn't happen that often, might just be easier to report such threads so a mod can change the title.

An auto lock would have a few downsides, such as the automotive/home theater/ipod apps/etc threads that only get bumped occasionally, but certainly don't warrant a new thread every time.

Just scroll through and look for a thanks button.

Thanks buttons disappear after a few weeks so it isn't the perfect indicator.

It is usually a good start though, if the thread that was bumped was from a few years ago.
