I'll put a plug in for my buddy's band, Black Dirt of the West. He's a damned good bassist who's played in some good bands (The Rowdymen, Mad Bomber Society), and I know that any band he'll be involved with is gonna be a good listen.
I left town before this band formed, so I haven't heard them, but the bio says country/metal/punk. Sounds about right.

Playing the Palomino June 4, and Alberta's Own Music Fest on July 16.

A friend of mine does some shows here once in a while. He's very folky, hard to describe it. Bit of a gypsy vibe. I really like it, and he puts on a great show. Very talented musician, he plays/records all the instruments himself.
(For the record, I like music such as Tom Waits, Nick Cave, The Pixies, Chuck Ragan, others, to give you an idea of what kind of music it is.)
