Can you recommend a store to buy fish? [Old Bumped Thread]
Well I just found out that the store I generally go to for fish and supplies is gone. I keep freshwater fish and have both cichlids and tropical (slowly moving to more cichlids...). The point today was to add a few more cichlids, but I am not in a huge rush.
Obviously I could go to Petland or some other big box, but I do like to speak with someone who knows what they're doing and get some good advice. I also like to know that everything is clean and such for the fish being sold.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! TIA

I was going to suggest T&T Market based on your thread title.
I think Pisces in the NE had a tonne of fish stuff when we were there.

The two best fish stores in town are Big Al's on 32nd Ave and Riverfront Aquariums just off Barlow north of Memorial.

My wife is the fishkeeper, and she likes Pisces, Riverfront, and Big Al's. Riverfront is a little more "warehousey" but they've got a great selection. I actually miss when Riverfront was on Riverfront in that old, dingy building.

North of Memorial drive on Barlow trail. If you're going north they are on the right hand side.

Gold's is the best for Cichlids, followed by Pisces.
Everything I've bought from Riverfront has gotten ill and died shortly thereafter.

yeah if you are in to cichlids, you should head to Gold's aquarium (17th ave SE by the pizza hut, mcdonalds) forest lawn area.
i also like to shop at pisces and big al's. I think they have sales today at both stores too (usually have weekend sales etc)

Speaking of cichlids, my pair of Nicaraguan cichlids spawned, and if all goes well, once they are larger I'll have maybe 20-30 youngsters up for adoption if anyone is interested. Not ready yet, they are still tiny little things, but growing fast!

Riverfront is great. Bought a lot of stuff there. Big Al's is awesome too. When I was in highschool, I used to stroll around riverfront just to see what they had. I also recall seeing 1-2m long sharks and an african lungfish at big Als. They also had like sea slugs and all sorts of funky interesting stuff.

I can't say i've had the same experience. I have purchased many organisms from riverfront including clown fish, aquatic rock, sexy shrimp, starfish, anglefish, guppies, toads, salamanders, etc. Never really had issues.

Can't go wrong with these guys, they are #1 in Calgary! I remember doing a field trip there in Elementrary. This place has the best, period!

Cityfish off of 32 ave NE.
You get a whole sashimi salmon flash frozened for $8/lb gutted and filleted.
My 90 gallon bow front has been sitting empty for almost 2 years. maybe it's time to use it again.
