Default Scientists set new download speed record

So instead of going over your UBB limits in a days, you'll be able to do it in less than a second.

Scientists have set a new data speed record using just a single laser to transmit the equivalent of 700 DVDs in one second.

Meh...a Boeing 747 loaded with hard drives will deliver an awful lot of bandwidth too...

It's the latency that's killer.

considering that they're using a LASER (aka the speed of light) i don't think latency is that much of a hurdle

If Shaw gets a hold of this technology then we can expect to see some great plans like "SUPER HIGH SPEED DOWNLOADS WITH ULTRA FAST CONNECTION* for only $39.95 for the first six months!!!!"

* = limit of 1 GB per month

Fiber optic networks also use lasers and transmit data at the speed of light, but they still experience latency.
