Fox will air four, two-hour specials throughout the year, in addition to repeats.
"We haven’t made money on the show in quite awhile," says Fox Entertainment president, Kevin Reilly. "It wasn’t particularly viable. We wanted to keep the franchise alive."
"America's Most Wanted" has been canceled before, albeit temporarily.
In 1996, Fox decided to air a block of "Married...With Children," "Martin" and two other shows in "AMW"'s timeslot.
But after protests from the public, law enforcement and the governors from 37 states, Fox brought it back.
A real shame as it was one of the best shows around for 23 years.
It was getting pretty bad the last year though, and it seemed like they were rushing the production and running old stories a lot.
Amy chance NBC or another competitor signs him on?
I believe I heard they are going to air 4 2-hour specials a year.
Did you hear it in the first sentence of the quote?
Besides the odd show I haven't really been interested in this show for years because it was the same criminals or story. I think having it a few times a year vs every week will be better for everyone involved anyways.

I don't read posts by puckluck lest my eyes begin to bleed. I skim them over and apparently miss most of the content...

I made a drinking game to that show. Drink everytime somebody raises their voice. Or the other rules; drink everytime there is a law enforcement person on screen.
The United States needs another major domestic manhunt, like the Unabomber or Eric Rudolph.

Honestly, these kind of shows just aren't that interesting anymore with the internet around. There was a time when AMW was the only source of quick information for this stuff. Now I can go on wikipedia and find out about every murderer or major criminal that has ever existed.
