Default Most difficult bill you've ever paid..

Hey CP, just got back from the bank. Picked up a money draft to pay for my residence and tuition for school this upcoming year. Though it's an investment in my own future it was still super hard to take such a large amount of money I've worked so hard for (took nearly two years off school to save up) with the intent of giving it all to one institution.

So I ask you guys and girls, what was the bill you had the hardest time paying for? Even if it was for something worthy.

Buying my first condo was the hardest thing I've ever paid for. Handing someone a cheque for $40,000 is unsettling.

I'm going to guess that "Marriage Certificate" shows up numerous times.....

As for me, the first time you pay a Realtor is a pretty crappy moment.

First was $730 runs some tests on my cat, only to have to put her down that same night.
Second was putting a $18,000 down payment on my condo.

The Visa bill after I went on a cruise, and lost $7000 in the ship casino in a drunken stupor.

I have been known on occasion to write a few checks my body couldn't cash.

$400 ambulance bill.

I didn't need to go to the hospital but the jackass of an EMS guy threatened me if I wouldn't get in the ambulance. I ended up getting 4 stiches but I think the would have been fine with a friggin band aid. And all that was because the incompetant CPS said they don't carry 1st aid kits with them.

I once signed a cheque for over a million dollars but it wasn't my money. Well, a wee bit of it was. I remember signing a cheque for 10 grand for my first mortgage. It was in 1975 when that was a lot of money. That was my biggest fear. I also remember writing a cheque for $24,000 for taxes, over and above my installments. It was a good year.

Wow.

I'm hoping you make enough to justify paying that much in taxes. ( I guess you would have to unless you skipped a few years of paying the government )

$2,000 for a new laptop, after I accidentally spilled coke all over my last one and heard it start to fry from the inside. This was in college when $2k was basically my entire savings...so more than a little hard to swallow.

That and having to pay 50k in taxes this year (especially since the previous year i paid 5)....that was a little soul crushing to say the least.

A book I just bought a month ago, but I can't find it now and I'm about to buy it again.

(ok maybe not the most difficult, but one thats pissing me off trying to find the past 2 days)

Other ones I can think of, having to pay for 2 different health insurance because the USA university wouldn't accept my other one which is more comprehensive. Buyers remorse from my first car, which wasn't even a nice car.

That was a rough one, as it was a free cruise I won through the company. So the only way I kinda justified it, was the full retail value of the cruise without any sort of discount and flights was about $6000, (which of course could be had for about $3000 if you shopped around.)

So I convinced myself it was really only a $1000 loss, until the bill showed up that logic changed.

Now any time I go anywhere wiuth the intent of gambling, I stick $1000 cash in my pocket, and walk if I double it or lose it. The good news is, using that logic, I am up $5000 since the incident, I have actually tracked the losses/winnings on a spreadsheet for the last 10 years since. Once I get back my $7000, I will never gamble again.

Yeah I know

I tore my house, office and car apart looking for it. I even found the packaging the book came in (which I guess I didn't throw out) but no book.

Student loans, paid off remainder in one large chunk, over $20,000. For a guy who never finished University, that one hurt. I could have likely gotten where I am today without any University schooling. Oh well, live and learn.

I have made bigger payments, but those were worth it, house, car, cummulative bar tabs, etc.
