Damn You Fox
Fox has cancelled a few shows recently. Three of which the wife and I really enjoyed...Human Target, The Chicago Code and Breaking In.
Drives me nuts how you get into shows these days and BOOM, they are gone. I really thought The Chicago Code could be a good turnaround show for Fox. It was very well done.

This has happened to a few shows the wife and I watch. We made an agreement now that we wont start watching a new show until it hits season 2 or 3. Then we'll catch up on it.

I actually think Fox deserves a lot of credit, they sticks with shows longer than other networks
Arrested Development would have never lasted as long as it did on another network
Fringe got renewed this year with low ratings after it got moved to Fridays (I haven't watched it live since, always DVR, guessing a lot of people are the same way)
Family guy was canceled and brought back, can't imagine CBS/NBC/ABC ever doing that
and it takes chances on other types of shows that just wouldn't ever be on other networks (Firefly, Terminator etc.)

I managed to randomly watch Breakin In last night, and I have to say it was one of the worst shows I've ever seen. 10 minutes in I was wondering how this show hadn't been cancelled yet.

My wife and I were loving a show called the Black Donelleys until it was cancelled. Gutted.

Ditto... but you raise an interesting question, how do the nielsen ratings work with PVR's these days?
I mean I don't watch anything live anymore.

You can say that about ay network, keeping shows around longer than they most likely should though. I mean, Fox renewed Bob's Burgers, but not The Chicago Code. Ok then...ugh.
Fox needs to learn to stick with shows that just might need a bit more time. Yes, Fox perhaps has given shows more time or even brought them back, but some of the choices don't make sense IMO.
Breaking In wasn't the best comedy on the air by any means, but the ratings for it are higher than The Middle (on ABC) and it was already renewed. Just doesn't seem to make any sense...and usually ABC is more picky than Fox. The Chicago Code was a very good show. It may have done much better if Fox gave it more time.

They alter the ratings after the fact based on PVR viewing. Not sure how they do it, but I've seen the ratings altered the next day or later.
For those interested, The Futon Critic is always a good source for TV info. Here is the listings for shows that have been renewed, cancelled, etc.:

Lie to Me was such an awful show. I couldn't stand it. Tim Roth should have known better.

I really wanted to like Chicago Code more than I did. I stuck with it hoping it would get better, but it didn't and I just had to stop watching. It never evolved past being a decent cop show for me. Also, I sincerely hated the voice overs. They drove me crazy.
Traffic Light is a loss. I only just started getting into that one. It's got some sharp humour in it. I was coming around to that one. That's too bad.

So Chicago Code, Lie to Me, and Traffic Light are all cancelled? Damn .... those were three shows I watched and enjoyed.
I try not to watch shows until they are renewed for season 2, but broke my own rules for some reason ... now I pay for it.

We noticed this on Netflix and are 4 episodes in. Without ruining the ending, do you know the reason it was cancelled? It is a great show.

I think anyone who liked the Chicago Code has never seen The Shield. Not that the two were necessarily the same, but with the same creator, I expected WAAAAAY more out of Chicago Code.
