Default Ohio Senata passes bill allowing concealed weapons in stadiums (etc)

Ohio Senate passes bill allowing concealed weapons in bars and restaurants
http://www.cleveland.com/open/index....ll_allowi.html

Quote:
The Republican-dominated Ohio Senate passed a bill 25-7 Wednesday to allow concealed carry permit holders to carry weapons into bars, restaurants, and open-air sports stadiums serving alcohol. However, those packing concealed heat could face felony charges if they are caught boozing it up.

"I agree that you shouldn't be mixing alcohol and guns," said Sen. Tim Schaffer, a Lancaster Republican who sponsored the legislation. "This bill doesn't allow concealed carry permit holders to consume alcohol. Period."

.......
A trio of eastern Ohio Democrats -- Senate Minority Leader Capri Cafaro, and Sens. Jason Wilson and Joe Schiavoni -- crossed the aisle to join Senate Republicans in voting for the legislation.

The bill also would wipe out Ohio's laws about where concealed carry license holders must keep weapons while transporting them in their car. Currently, concealed-carry permit holders can travel in their vehicle with a loaded weapon as long as the weapon is holstered or kept in a glove compartment, console, or box.
Uh... Ohio... What??

What if the king of england starts treading on your rights while you're trying to watch THE Ohio State University....then what are you going to do?

EDIT: Sorry, I should ask I guess, how easy is it to get a conceal permit. For example, if it's limited to security personnel and the like, then no big deal, but any joe sixpack can get one no problem...then YIKES.

Shoot everyone in the face and let god sort it out. Or Charlton Heston. Whoever's free.

I don't really agree with it, but they explicitly state that a weapon-holder can't drink any alcohol.

It screws up my aim.

Exactly! If you can't aim while taking a leak, how are you supposed to shoot all those communists and terrorists?

Perhaps this will be an incentive for the Bengals, Browns, Blue Jackets, and Cavs to start playing better.

It's illegal here in Alabama even with your permit to have one drink while carrying. A simple breathalyzer test would show alcohol in the system and off to the clink for them.

Thats why you leave your kid in the truck outside the bar, someone to look after your gun and drive you home in a pinch.

I believe that if a shop owner or restaurant owner doesn't want CCW, all they have to do is display a sign saying no concealed carry allowed on premises and people.

I don't have a problem with this. Crime for CCW users is extremely low. These are the people that went through the trouble of fingerprinting and applications in order to be able to carry. Not really a big deal IMO.

Exactly.

Considering what people have to go through to get a CCW, I don't really see this as a problem.

And the owners CAN say they don't want concealed weapons on their premises.

I can't even fathom a world where I felt I needed to carry around a gun.

Well it'll still be safe at Bluejackets games. If someone shoots, it'll be at an empty seat.

I just picture someone getting shot at a Riders Stamps game or a Flames Cannuck game.

It would take Ring rage to a new level.

Can they? Ohio State University is obviously a state actor, therefore constitutional protections apply. Can a state owned facility prevent people from carrying weapons? I'm not so sure of that.

Good idea.
