Default Key dates coming up - UPDATE

Barring any problems simming these are our key dates coming up:

Trade deadline - Saturday April 23 (midnight MST)
Last game of the regular season - Tuesday April 26
Start of the playoffs - Thursday April 28

Please note - for the last game of the regular season we will be simming the rest of the AHL games on the season schedule so all teams should send in AHL lines.

Any questions?

Is it possible to trade after the deadline among teams that are eliminated, or once a team is ousted from the playoffs?

Nope, not in the playoffs either. Only non playoff teams can have cap violations once the playoffs start.

I had the same question and asked Grant the other day.

Not if you are still playing. Teams out of contention can exceed cap and roster limits - if you are playing you must be in compliance.

You can of course agree to a deal then submit it after when trading opens again.

yup but remember a deal isn't a deal until its finalized. If GMs choose to do this - they do so taking the risk that a fellow GM could back out once the trading gates re-open.

Just to clarify. In previous years if two GM's made a deal via PM or e-mail and both specifically said "I Agree" it was considered a done deal and sent in when trading reopened.

Is this not the case anymore? Is a deal only a deal once 'accept' is clicked on the roster page?

Thanks.

Nothing's changed. GMs can engage in trade discussions if they want ahead of time but trading doesn't officially begin until the playoffs start. Backing out of such a deal would be bad form - but from the league point of view no official dealing can begin until the season is done.

So in that sense its up to GMs to manage that process as they see fit. But a deal isn't a deal until its sent to the league - that's always been the case.

I'm going to start the playoffs Thursday this week instead of Wednesday. That will give teams a full extra day to make sure they are ready to go. I also have some prep work to do on our end to get ready for playoffs - including changing all the site links for the new playoff result pages - so having an extra night to do that will help as well.

So final regular season games tonight - day off tomorrow - then playoffs start Thursday evening.

Yeah players will be rested at least 2 days (perhaps more because of the stupid AHL schedule).
