Lord no, I think Lucas has enough cash and ideas to produce his own TV shows. Smith is a second rate fanboy who hasn't had a good movie since Chasing Amy.

A half-hour animated series will expand on the two Clone Wars mini-series that Lucasfilm has produced for Time Warner’s Cartoon Network. The series would probably be produced at Lucas’s new computer animation facility in Singapore.

That would be followed by the production of a live-action series set after Revenge of the Sith but before the original Star Wars, which was subtitled Episode IV: A New Hope. “We’re probably not going to start that for about a year,” Lucas said. “We want to write all the stories for the entire first season all at once.”

I loved the Clone Wars short cartoons, they would be kick-butt if done as a full series.
Hopefully they go with the Samurai Jack style animation as well.. Trying to make it all Reboot 3D style while making the actors look like their real life counterparts would suck.
You can watch em all (small) here:

Just cause you don't like him, doesn't meen he can't be involved. There's a chance he'll be writing and directing or producing 3 episodes.

Writing a 3 story arc is alot different then producing the series like you said in your first post.

That too.
Anyways, I was hoping the live action series would be based on the Knights of the Old Republic video games. I think I'd prefer a whole new story in the Sar Wars universe.

Lucas did a great job with the Star Wars saga though some don't like the prequels that's their opinion. Episode 1 made millions, episode 2 broke records in Beligum as the longest lasting movie to be in the countries theatres those are just some points to make. So though there is a backlash throughout the press and with millions in the world that cry about episodes 1 and 2, not everyone agrees. I'm not totally in favour of a Star Wars T.V show though. I liked the clone wars and volume 2 kicks ass! I just have fears since information spilled the TV series will take place between episode 3 and 4 that characters like Obi Wan will make appearances played by a new actor. If that happens the series will never last. Star Wars is not Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Lucas specifically said that would never happen. The TV series will not focus on any main characters.
Besides, Obi Wan is doing nothing but sitting on Tatooine in his hut/cave doing nothing for the next 20 years. That's been established already

As long as they have the occasional appearance by Vader, they won't need HC, or Sideous, or even Tarkin. That would be pretty darn cool.
The worst thing would be a jedi or two running around since executive order 66 should have wiped them all out.

I think the TV series will be done right. I have to agree with CP about the first season of BSG. It has set the bar nicely and I'd go so far as to say was kinda the death nell of Enterprise.
The Wars universe is nice and dark and gritty and so many story lines are there to be had. Don't know though if I'd rather individual stories, or the introduction of new characters and a new story arc/s.
Think of the fun to be seen with a younger Lando pimpin' around the galaxy bringin some nice birds back to the Falcon lol what a geek i am.

I'd like to see a show based around a fighter squadron in the fledgling Rebel Alliance.

You know its going to be a good show/series if they managed to get the show on that paramount of cable networks.... the freakin WB. I no longer have any faith in Lucas making anything worthwhile.

i just hope a new v series has less tie-ins than episodes 1 and 2,
i mean i'm all for small tie-ins but there's a difference between a nod to other movies,
and BEATING US SENSELESS with tie-ins.
like, how darth vader, as a child, cobbled together c-3po. and r2-d2 was the astromech droid that saved the day.
oh, and boba fett was a marginal character that the fan-boys loved, so we'll make him a central huge character now.
and we'll turbo-charge all the lasers!
