Default Montana Timber Wolves

It looks as if Montana will be able to govern their own Timberwolves, in what is being called a "political gift" to their governor. In other words this will allow them to be hunted. I find this of particular interest because I recall many of these wolves were relocated from Alberta.

Those people are a bit strange, they totally hate the wolves. We have zero problems with the wolves on north side of the 49th parallel, weird huh.

Don't know if I'd say there are zero problems. http://new.producer.com/News/Article.aspx?aid=27357

I read that a judge blocked the deal. Here's the story.

Thanks I didn't hear about that, I recall seeing a population density map, wolves didn't even register on the map south of the border. If the moose have had some hard winters (deep snow & ticks) the wolves still have to eat something.

( from the Canadian story Orv linked) Billings said the number of wolves in their area has increased dramatically in recent years along with the number of livestock losses from wolves.

There are ranches surrounding Yellowstone Park. The pastures come into direct contact with the wolves' hunting grounds. There are bound to be conflicts.

From what I understand, that was a few days ago and this latest decision (tonight) allows Montana to move Wolves off the endangered species list; according to CNN.

I understand the farmers concerns, but right now the wolves are being used as political pawns in this recent budget.
