Not much of a story, really. Some guy just darted out of a lane without signalling and without seeing the cycler that was directly beside him in the other lane when he did it. The cycler managed to dodge him and the driver sped off, probably having no idea he nearly killed the guy. Not sure what could really be done about it but that would be up to the cycler I guess.
Guys like this just irk me is all. No matter how crazy you drive, you aren't getting anywhere any faster than anyone else downtown during rush hour.

Meh... if a downtown cycler cuts you off, you kill him... if you cut off a downtown cycler, you kill him... I think cars need to be a bit more careful considering they can kill bycicles (not vice versa).

Same thing happened to me last summer on Ctr St. The right lane was slowed due to vehicles turning, so I changed lanes. I was about almost by all of the cars in the right lane when the guy directly next to me changed lanes without looking or signalling and hit me. I was lucky as he saw me just as he hit me and quickly turned back. I didn't fall and there was a nice hole in his bumper where it hit my pedal. Very lucky.
Sarichfan, we don't all ride like bike couriers, some of us actually follow the rules of the road. We all need to look out for each other out there.

Very scary stuff, I remember I got hit by a car who cut in front of me on my bike when I was a kid however I am sad to say that it didn't work out like that old movie "Blank Check" if anybody remembers that very lame movie lol.

The bike courier at my work is really cute. We get lots though. Please don't hit any of them.

if you're unable to drive with cyclists on the road, maybe you need to get a bus pass.

If your unable to keep up with traffic don't ride on that road.. I hate it when entire lanes backup on account of the environmental heros.. I would never put anyone at risk on the roads, but I find alot of cyclists put themselves at risk.. I see plenty of cyclists on high speed roads just asking to be hood ornaments.. Also the Lance Armstrongs that feel its their right to ride two wide on lower springbank road are just asking for it.. Theres hundreds of km's worth of pathways in the city, and outlying areas, and these morons decide to use a secondary highway with no shoulder..

Cyclists can keep up with the traffic. They are the traffic.
Although I do understand the anti-cycling sentiment. Driver's licenses and cars are hard to come by, and the people that have them are special.

Any tool can buy some spandex garb and spend $2000 on a mountain bike.. you guys are heros.. Last I checked the roads were meant for cars and trucks.. I was merely stating that you shouldnt ride on a road if you can't keep up with the flow of traffic..

Maybe we could, if the sidewalk wasn't filled with 500 pound McDonald hamburger pounding behemonths belching on the way to their SUVs bitching about cyclists as they prepare to bumber-to-bumper it to their overpriced cardboard boxes in suburbia.
