Default 'Resizable' WOOD Closet Kits?

Hi guys and gals,

My wife wants to replace the wire crap in our laundry room. She wants a nice wood-finished unit, with shelves down one side and a hanging area on the other, to better reflect how she uses that area.

I had a custom closets place come in and quote me on the job (quite a small job) and the cost was 2x what I expected.

I've decided (I think?) that I'll do this myself, but I am having trouble finding a reasonably priced "build-your-own' closet kit that I can modify to fit my usage - Wondering what you guys have come across in the build-your-own category made of wood?

Here's the kit I've come across

For reference, this is what I'm looking to do:

Any comments CP, or should I whip out the ol' circular saw and see how many figures I end up with left?

If cost is an issue, I would just go to Ikea and get a wall mounted shelving unit (either Kitchen or bathroom sections) for the left side, and then put in a normal closet rod on the right hand side. Just get the plain one, without a door, since that is a good chunk of the cost. With Ikea there is enough selection for size etc that you can probabaly get what you want.

I just modified a unit in our bedroom closet. It was similar to what you are doing. I used that 3/4" Pine shelving you can buy at Rona/Home Depot in different widths and lengths. I used a biscuit joiner to put it together. Primed it and Painted it. I think I spent about $100 dollars to modify the existing closet. California Closets quoted me $1100 to tear out the old and put in a new one.
