Panorama hit and run
I'm cross posting this from beyond for a friend. A couple of days ago my friend parked her car in front of her house for the night and woke up in the morning to this.
Apparently from the pieces left at the scene and a witness, they were able to link it to a light coloured Chevy Silverado. Happened about 2am on Apr 4th on Panatella Blvd. I know its a long shot, but could you guys keep an eye out that truck with tail damage?

I agree... it would have been a very weird hit. A spin into the Rav4? That would have had to happen at super high speeds to do this damage.
Other thing I can think of is a front driver side hit that dragged all the way to the lights

Based on the damage it looks like the rear passenger side of the tail end would have hit the vehicle. I'm going to guess the driver was probably intoxicated which makes any scenario possible.

Why isn't a tail strike plausible for a truck? Quite easy to have them lose traction and have the back end swing out (aka drift) around a corner, which could easily hit something before the front.

Looks like Drunky came up the bend, lost his ass end, and hip checked the Toyota.

holy smokes. That thing would have been hit pretty damn hard. Like mentioned, guy probably came up lost the back and just kept on driving. Would have been going pretty fast too to get that bad of damage. Hopefully your friend finds the a-hole who did this.

Judging by the tire marks in the snow it was a very hard hit, the RAV4 slide a lot. As for finding the a-hole, hopefully theres some random CP/beyond reader that sees the truck coming out of a garage or going to a body shop that might be able to help.
Or the police manage to sort it out... Anyone get hit before and have the cops actually catch the guys?

I'm sure the police will put body shops on alert to any Chevy truck coming in for body damage.

Does a body shop have any sort of obligation to report this kind of thing? Like if Mr. Silverado comes in without, I don't know, an accident report or an insurance claim or says he wants to leave his insurance company out of it and asks for his truck to be fixed, do they have to ask him what happened? Judging by that picture and the fact that he left identifiable parts behind, he's banged up pretty good too.
Will they fix things no questions asked?

I think they have to report it by law if the damage is more than $1000 or something like that.

Body shops cant touch the vehicle unless it has a damage sticker for anything over $1000. He'll have to fill out a police report to get the damage sticker, which is hopefully how they'll catch him for the hit and run.

No bodyshop will fix damage over $2000.00 without a police damage sticker. Damage where a boxside tailight and probably a bumper are involved on a silverado are definately over 2000.00. If you are caught fixing damages over $2000.00 and there is no sticker present they have the ability to shut the shop down and revoke your business licence for being shady. And yes the police do spot checks on all shops big and small.

Is there a nearby bar? If so, perhaps they have a security camera covering the parking lot. You could look for pickup trucks.
If there's no nearby or obvious watering hole, then it could be someone on her street had a house party - is the road out front a major thoroughfare, or is traffic limited?

Is this house by Tudor Rose? If it is might not be a bad idea to go there and ask them....Good thinking!
