Panthers scrape together enough cash to tell Lalime to stick it.

Peter DeBoer had enough with a certain malcontent on the Panthers roster and brought it to the GM's attention.

Apparently Patrick did not appreciate his locker stall being in the parking lot, due to the lack of space in locker room, and the lack of responsibility of opening and closing the gate for the players on the bench (that's Harding's job).

To make him feel useful, as well as to keep him sharp, the management has been using him as one of the toll workers at the entrance to the parking lot for people coming to watch the game. He did have a few problems there though like closing the gate too soon, or just leaving it open and allowing anything through (just like he did when he actually played). Obviously the situation was getting out of hand and something had to be done.

So the Panthers contacted the Leafs and sent them a 4th and 3 5th rounders (4th and 5th next year, 2 5ths this year) for just over a million this year. Then they found a new home for two prospects (Breen and Zanette) in order to save another 1.5 million. With all of that, they finally had enough money to tell Lalime to stay home.

The move will save 5 million next season making more space available to bring another forward in. Plus they won't have to worry about parking screw ups as well.
