2010-11 NCAA basketball thread
I didn't see one, so here goes! I'm pretty excited for this season.
Initial coaches poll is out, and as with all 'blind' polls, it should be taken with a grain of salt....
My Wichita State Shockers are ranked 32nd and are picked by most to win the Missouri Valley Conference this season. Gregg Marshall's rebuild is just about complete and the team should start competing for a tournament birth annually now. After a home tune up against Texas Southern they head to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational and a date with UConn.....big test early!

MSU should be very good again, if they aren't in the Final Four it will be a big disappointment. They lost a perennial underachieving swingman in Morgan and a problem child in Allen, otherwise this is the same team that went to the Final Four, except the best PG in the Big Ten is back healthy. Purdue looked dangerous, but without Hummel (feel horrible for that kid, he's always done everything the right way) the conference should be MSU's to lose. Who knows though, as Purdue showed things can change in a second.

Valo, don't you live in EL? I'm really not a big basketball fan but a lot of UF fans are excited this year.

I did, moved to NYC after I graduated though. Still get back every once in a while though.
People are always pretty excited for MSU basketball, but this year it's up a notch. We'll see though, it can be tough to carry those expectations for a full year.

Too me basketball is just so drawn out the last three minuets if the game is within 10 points. I get so bored watching a game sometimes, but I rather watch NCAA over NBA.

24 hours of basketball on ESPN starts now. I can't imagine how crazy it would be to start a game at 4am, would probably be a pretty good time for the students that show up though.

Well at least Florida isn't the laughing stock at this, yet.

That's Oregon's role this year, although the brand new Arena and top 20 2011 recruiting class should help going forward.

They've got themselves a hell of a coach too. Altman is top notch.

What's everyone's feeling about Harrison Barnes being named a preseason All American without ever playing a game?

Big win last night by the 'Horns over Illinois. Tristan Thompson is looking like the real deal. If Hamilton and Thompson can be consistent this is a top 10 team.

I think Oregon were the first team to do the black on black and white on white names on jerseys that the US Olympic team had in Beijing.
Check out their new court:

That's a nice court. Shame it'll be the site of home team ass kickings most of the time. Oregon basketball is atrocious.

ACC b-ball is my favorite. Can't wait for the ACC games to start, but I have a feeling with Booker now gone the Tigers will be in even tougher this year and will probably miss the dance.

Texas played a good game against Pitt. Had the ball with 10 secs left down by 2 and freshman pg Cory Joseph chucked an ugly shot up. Don't understand why they didn't get it in Hamilton's hands. The good thing is that they are looking pretty good with the core of the team being freshmen and sophmores so they should get better as the year goes on. Hamilton is looking too good. If he keeps this up he is NBA bound.

Well UNC is picking up where they left off last year with consecutive losses to Minnesota and Vandy. Harrison Barnes averaged 8 pts over the 2 games. All American indeed.
