I haven't had time to check it out in-depth, but I really like some of the thinking behind what they're doing. I don't know that there's room in the social networking space for this, though.

Great ideas, but in the end, seems to be much of the same social functions just augmented for slightly different uses. Circles, Hangouts and Huddles seem to be similar spaces. I would say just reclassify all of those services under something called "Circles+" and use the other features as supporting functions for a new social space.

Additionally, the instant upload is something I would love to have. I hate wasting time at home uploading pictures to albums.

After Wave and Buzz I'm immediately cautious of anything Google tries to do in this realm. You just can't manage that many social networks so unless you're willing to jettison Facebook or Twitter at this point to join something very few of your friends will be on then I don't see the point. As much as I don't really like Facebook it has a place and the install base is too massive to ignore. Starting fresh with something new just seems daunting, especially knowing that google might just flip the switch and kill this if it doesn't work.

I will check it out.. But looks like it is missing one of the most important aspects that most of my friends use. Creating Events.

Also will people be able to span multiple circles? I want to share something to everyone in one circle plus a few people in another circle is it easy to do?

I dunno how to invite people because I haven't been invited yet. I'd like to check it out if anyone does have an invite available and can send it my way. I'll pay it forward and pass my invites out here.

The Mountain View, Calif.-based company removed users' ability to invite friends to the service just a few hours after first making the feature available on Wednesday. The company cited incredibly high demand as the reason for the shutdown, but the invite mechanism isn't gone for good. Google says it will open and close Google+ to new users several times throughout its beta testing.
Barnes if you ever get some invites I'd love one.

Tech Radar also wrote an in-depth article on Google+, which explains much of what it is about. It's worth a read. I'm interested in giving it a whirl and am going to hold off on any judgments or comments until I do, but I'm on the wait list...

Another interesting article for those following.

http://m.wired.com/epicenter/2011/06...s-social/all/1

It shows why this is different for google - and the author is to google what Larry Brooks and doughboy are to the nhlpa so the fact it was even written speaks to googles desperation in the space.

Haven't had a chance to play around with it much, but at the very least I'm pretty impressed with the UI so far...

It's open to everyone now. Just go to www.google.com/+ and log-in.

(No thanks to Google for letting me know... )

EDIT: Grrrrrrr. "We've temporarily exceeded our capacity. Please try again soon"

It's fine for me, just anyone I've invited hasn't done squat on it yet.
