Default Hometown Hockey - Saturday & Sunday, March 19 & 20

Hometown Hockey is this weekend, although there were some activities leading up this week. People were taking pictures with the Stanley Cup on Wednesday.

Events:

The 960 morning show mentioned that Sheldon Kennedy, Theo Fleury, and Rhett Warrener will also be there this weekend.

Sean Monahan will be at Chinook at 5:30pm today. He will also be answering questions on twitter. Maybe he'll take some toaster questions haha

Weather is looking good for the weekend, 11C and 13C.

Will you be going?
Feel free to share some pictures!

BMO is signing autographs? Wow, that's cool - might have to go check that out. One of my favourite former Flames. Still think he was Iginla's 2nd-best centre.

We checked out hometown hockey when it was here in St. Albert a couple of weeks ago. Just an excellent event. It redeems Rogers in my eyes. I would strongly encourage all hockey fans to check it out, and especially if you have kids. Get there early if your kids want the free jerseys and toques.

It sure is a great event as it was here in Victoria recently and all ages had a great time. Go by yourself or bring friends and family because everybody will be enjoying themselves.

Ahead of Langkow? No way.

Huselius - Langkow - Iggy was deadly.

Thanks Scorpion and AC for setting me up to make a reference to the Button era.

BMO was the Iginla's 4th best centre. Number 3: Marc Savard.

Jesus, I realized right as I posted that both Conroy and Langkow were Iggy’s centres. I always mix them up, they both wore 22…

Yeah, the 2 line (20 - 22 - 12) was pretty excellent back in its day.

Conroy
Langkow
Morrison
Savard

I’m as big a Savard fan as anyone, but Tanguay - Morrison - Iginla was better than McAmmond - Savard - Iginla ever was. And Dean McAmmond is my all-time favourite Flame.

Got back a couple of hours ago. Pretty cool event. Thought it would be a lot busier than it was, otherwise was good to see it up close and personal. Hearing Conroy talk about Hockey was the best part.

This is the story of every hometown hockey event. It's set up to be a huge event with thousands of fans but there ends up being a smattering of fans milling about and dismal crowds for the musical performances on TV.

A couple have had no more than a couple dozen bored looking locals standing in front of the stage when the TV performance starts with Ron MacLean and Tara Sloan screaming out the introduction like they're introducing Foo Fighters at Glastenbury.
