boy buried alive for 3 hours by snow plows
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montre...-bank-kid.html
Quote:
A seven-year-old boy from Longueuil, Que., is alive and well after spending close to three hours buried in a snowbank earlier this week.
Olivier Prescott was playing in a schoolyard across the street from his house on Monday when a snowplow went by and buried him in a mound of snow.
He was unconscious for most the time he was trapped, and Prescott said he doesn't remember much.
His mother, Stéphanie Prescott, said she was shoveling snow in front of their house.
"I didn't see his tuque, and I said to my sister, 'I didn't see Olie like for five minutes'," said Prescott.
After noticing the boy was missing, she rallied most of the neighbourhood to search for him.
Neighbour Barry Haigh and his brother finally made a discovery three hours later.
|
That boy got really lucky that he was found in time. Those snow plows can make some pretty big piles of snow on the side of the road.

A couple of years ago, a jogger was hit by a snow plow and they didn't find him until spring.

I hope they open criminal charges against the snow plow operator. Someone call the police.

Typical first reaction... how can we make someone pay for this?
The piece on the news explored how there's an inherent danger in these sorts of snow plows; as you're pushing snow over the drift, the bucket comes up, obscuring the driver's vision. It's impossible for the driver to see what's happening on the other side of the bank that he's pushing the snow onto. The police don't think there should be criminal charges, the mother doesn't but apparently you know better?

My response was more in jest with the Canadiens crying foul over Chara. I'll draw a picture next time to make it more obvious.
At least the kid didn't die though.

When do they call the press conference so we can hear the kid whine?

I hope the kid isn't a Habs fan. We could be looking at a criminal investigation here...

This was a typical snowplow move. It just happened at the wrong place at the wrong time. I don't think we can place all the blame on the snowplow for a fluke accident. Maybe we should look into better snowpile safety.

I think he was making fun of the people who called the police requesting an investigation into the Chara hit.

The mental image I get of a plow's wake engulfing a kid is hilarious. Do you think he saw the plow coming and made a run for it knowing he couldn't out run it?
