Default Appliance Repair Help.... (stupid LG)

I have a front loading LG Washing machine that needs a new door gasket, I bought this washer at Trail Appliances....so I figured I could call Trails greatly hyped service department and get the part. Well they sell LG but the do nothing more than sell it, no service and no parts.

So after spending the last 90 mins phoning the Trail recommended parts retailer and being told they cannot sell LG parts, then phoning LG and being told they cannot sell me the part since Im not a licensed LG technician. The great people at LG then proceeded to make my "Life Good" by telling me that they don't have any listed LG Certified Techs or parts retailers in Calgary or Western Canada that I can contact.

That bring me here....to the good folks of Calgary Puck, knowers of all things good and fixers of problems. Does anyone happen to know where the hell I can find somewhere to buy LG Washer parts???

Thanks in advance folks.

Ouch, that sucks.

The one thing I can think of is to look up the Kenmore brand of washers and find the equivalent LG brand. LG makes the washers for Kenmore.

Then find that Kenmore part, it "should" be the same.

This is the part chart for Kenmore - http://www.appliance411.com/parts/sears.shtml

Your best bet is probably finding the manuals for the Kenmore ones and see if they match yours and then order the part from Sears.

I sell appliances and when I have a customer looking for parts I usually refer them to Reliable Parts.
They seem pretty good, usually takes about a week or two to get your hands on whatever you need though

They're inside Trail Appliances. Surprised that the person the OP talked to didn't suggest that. And they have almost everything on hand.

Try http://www.amresupply.com/

I had a leak issue on my front loader a while back. It was actually the bolts that hold the two halves of the tub together that needed tightening.

It's a common problem....http://forum.doityourself.com/kitche...der-leaks.html

I used windex on the front window of my washer and the rim around it. The leak stopped. I think this is in the maintenance instructions.

We just had a problem with an LG washer - called them and were directed to Mr. Appliance (403 770-9793). Happy with the service.

Since we're yakking about appliances, maybe you guys can suggest a couple things for me...

Our 8 year old Kenmore dishwasher sucks donkey d!nk. It leaves food on virtually all the dishes. It rarely removes all of the soap and leaves brutal water spots everywhere. I rinsed it out with a couple of loads of vinegar, but that did sweet f.a. Anything else I can try? I'm at the end of the line here, and slowly thinking I might need to just buy a new d.w.

Oh B.T.W., if you're looking for an awesome dishwasher, go to the Buy/Sell Forum.

www.partstore.com has pretty much everything you could want, but they only ship within the US. Not sure if you have a relative and/or mail forwarding down there. Might be worth looking for something similar in Canada.

Definitely some issues with their laundry machines, although I've been very happy with my LG TVs.

One great example, they make a washer/dryer combo unit that doesn't come with a lint trap for the dryer. So it works for about a year, then the vent gets clogged up. (Not a fire hazard, since it doesn't use hot air, but the dryer won't dry after that)

I spent an evening this week taking apart said combo unit with a screwdriver, and unscrewing the vent duct from underneath the motor, taking it out, and removing the lint, then putting it back together. Took about two hours to clean the lint from a dryer.

Try using an actual dishwasher cleaner found in the same spot at dishwasher detergent at the grocery store, I found switching to liquid detergent and using 2 packages of actual cleaning formula mine was working good as new again.

You should check ATLAS Appliance by Blackfoot Trail. I bought some fridge parts from there and they were so helpful. I know they sell parts for washer and dryer as well because I was talking to the guy about my problem with the dryer.

We had a minor problem with the light not always going off in our LG refrigerator. However, I had the extended warranty and it was covered by that.

There was an authorized repair person that came out from Calgary, but I forget the name of the company he worked for and I dont have a bill since I never had to pay for the repair!!!

And he did order in the required part, so I know that company can get in LG parts.

Our repair was covered by w3solutions, that is the extended warranty company. Perhaps try contacting them? or ask a question of them on line?

http://www.thew3solution.com/

1-877-999-1915 is their toll free number.

Failing that, call Rundle appliances. If they cant fix it, they will probably refer you to someone who can.

I have the part number but I've had bad experiences with trying to save $20 on knock off parts that I ended up just having to buy again. Id rather buy it once and buy it right.
