Comedy Central has just given an eight-episode order to Sports Show with Norm Macdonald. The show will feature Norm cracking wise about popular and obscure sports in front of a live studio audience. That sounds good.
The show begins production this month with a planned premiere in April.
On Sports Show with Norm MacDonald, the 47-year-old comic will turn his sharp, satirical wit on the world of sports, riffing in front of a live studio audience.
He stresses, however, that the show will not just be targeting sports fanatics. Rather, through humour, MacDonald hopes to make sports talk accessible to a broad audience, much as Stewart's Daily Show reaches out to those who aren't necessarily political junkies.
"(Sports talk) can exclude people because it gets so arcane," says MacDonald.
The Onion website is funny for political satire (sometimes), but I tried watching the Onion Sports Show twice now, and I don't think I had so much of a chuckle from it.

I believe the head writer on this show will be Dave Dameshek who some of you may know from the ACE broadcasting network's "Daves of Thunder", Adam Carolla's former sidekick, former ESPN podcaster and frequent Bill Simmons guest. He also writes for Jimmy Kimmel and used to write for the Man Show and Battlebots.
In fact, I'm sure he wrote that summary because he's the only person I know who uses the term "Cracking wise".
Norm Macdonald is one of those polarizing guys I think. To me, he is hilarious but I know others can't stand him. I saw him at the Laugh Shop last weekend with a fellow Cper and he was very funny and a little more introspective then I thought he'd be. What really struck me was how old he looks now compared to how I'd remembered him. I suppose that happens to all of us...damnit.

I've gotten some huge laughs out of it.

When Norm was on SNL I think he was just before his time. His humour fits this era a lot better than it did back then, during the slapstick/physical comedy era. It's weird because I've always been a big SNL fan, and I hated, HATED Norm when he was on there when I was growing up, just thought he wasn't funny at all. But now when I watch Youtube clips of him, even from back then, I think he's hilarious. I think I was just too young for him back then.
I'll definitely give this one a watch. Not saying its gonna be gold, but I'll definitely give it a chance. That guy needs to be on TV.
Hopefully he tells the story of being high and trying to throw a giant tub of mustard on the field during a UofO/Carleton football game. Man I laughed so hard.

"So Dave, we were *makes the air quotes* doing beers..."
Dave: "Uh huh, oh yeah."

I can watch clips of Norm on different talk shows on youtube for hours. I don't know why I find him so hilarious. His roast of Bob Saget has to be one of the best ever. Everyone tries to be so dirty and he just comes in with these clean (but really lame) jokes.
Very cool. One of my favourite comedians. Big fan.
I get it why some people don't find him funny, he's not for everyone. I just get a kick out of everything he says. My wife went with me to a show of his, she just doesn't get it. She thought he was pretty lame.
