Default Installing a Heavy Bag

Hi all,

Just looking for some tips on installing a 100lb heavy bag in my undeveloped basement. I'm considering some 4x4 blocking secured with lag bolts in between my floor joists, but I'm a little apprehensive about doing this and then having it come down and damaging my joists/hardwood flooring above. Any tips/suggestions would be great...pictures of setups would be even better! I have looked at some options for purchasing brackets online, but I'm trying to do this on a small budget.

TIA

This might help:

I know it's a different install situation, but might be helpful.

Old house with exposed 2X6 joists ? Or newer with engineered joists ?

Old house, drill thru a joist or two mount with cable, chain or what you have, newer house, screw a mounting block to the joists.

I would get one of the metal stands. When I was a kid we used to have one in our basement into the joists and you could hear it throughout the entire house as it would swing in circles and make a loud jarring noise. Likely not good for the joists either......Ended up getting a stand from BJs Gym years ago....not even sure if he is still in business but I am sure you can get the stands just about anywhere including Walmart. Great work out!

Installation depends on how the bag is used. If you are really connecting with impact (assuming you know what you are doing) then you will hear and feel the bag all over the house. If you are 'shadow' fighting and just barely connecting, then it is fine on a beam.
If you are going to really train with the bag then you should get one of the big metal stands.
