Once again my hometown proves they will only support hockey/football...
I had no idea that the roughnecks were bankrupt until today when browsing the Calgary sun online.
What a complete and utter shame that the NLL isn't able to find support in Calgary. I personally supported the team while living back home. I even went to the 2004 championship game where they won it all.
But it is hard to see ANOTHER team in calgary fold. Baseball wasn't sustainable, basketball didn't work mainly because there was no money to sustain the league, and soccer also did not work.
But heck, if towns like buffalo can have lacrosse you would think rich corporate Calgary could too.
Hope the community can come in and fund it for the rest if the season and then maybe find a buyer for the team in the off season.
Otherwise I heard Winnipeg has a nice arena... Maybe they want a pro sports team enough to support the NLL?
